  1. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t stand that damn wig lol it aged her & it did nothing for her. It looked like Tina Turner & not in a compliment way. Janet looks very youthful, more so without make up, it wasn’t something that enhanced her style or performance.

It just didn’t complement her. Whether long or short I’ve seen her with multiple stage hair looks but that wig was terrible IMO. It wasn’t even a fro it was a electrified stiff wig lol. She can do so much better.

Janet in wigs generally aren’t the best look in my opinion overall.

It’s not sexist for her to seek whatever she wants to seek

It is sexist for men to suggest a woman needs to do something to accommodate that woman’s child. Your Jay-Z example doesn’t cover that. No one has said “hmm Jay-Z should go to Vegas bc he has 4 children.. settle down.. stop traveling”

Men Pushing their societal and ancient agenda on working women is sexist

An example: if “50 year old Brad from accounting” told “Stephanie” that she shouldnt work so much and so hard bc she just had a baby

You’re reaching. First, you don’t know everyone’s sex behind the screen. Second, what you perceive as a sexist suggestion or recognition can literally be a logical concern.

Third, biologically & physically men/women do not go through the same experience in the reproduction process. It’s literally possible for a woman to over exert themselves after pushing life out of their bodies. No one is saying how much a woman should or shouldn’t work...that’s up to her health, doctor, & personal discretion.

Just because it comes from a man’s mouth does not make it sexist. It has nothing to do with agenda. It can be argued your perceived perspective of what is fair & equal to a woman - after a woman just told you through her lens & experience, is sexist & agenda based. Since you feel yours holds more weight than a woman herself.

Many women think about the totality of motherhood & family. Janet loves being with her son & im sure she loves her son being in good health - IF multi-travel & environments & strange contact can threaten that...it could be in her interest to work against that while still maintaining her efforts & desires to work.

  3. So...it’s really likely that the show will be slightly stripped down & just have visuals. Kinda like Janet’s start at MGM & her career through the years with her performing the career...

But she’s not getting a HUGE production like some other Vegas acts because the venue is closer to the size of UCAP venues.

The added surprise element is that she’s allegedly “celebrating” the anniversary of Rhythm Nation...so who knows how that looks or what it will mean because she’s ALWAYS performed most of the big tracks from the album anyway.

I think it’s smart for her to do Vegas and I don’t think it’s sexist. As an actual woman with society’s weight on my shoulders, I can see why she’d want to give her child some stability as I believe she has custody of her young son. It helps from a stability standpoint as well as with his immune system. I remember reading about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s twins getting sick in Europe while on tour and there were people saying that they shouldn’t have been flying their children around so frequently. There’s nothing wrong with making accommodations for working moms. It’s what we ask companies to do which is why there’s a push for better parental leave, flexible hours, and additional protections for working moms so that they don’t opt out of the workforce and we can continue to push for better gender representation for women at senior levels. Nobody would consider that sexism. They would consider it a push for parity. And I say this knowing damn well I’m now in a senior level position to push for practices and benefits that protect working moms.

    Exactly. Thank you very much.

Listen. Janet is way past her days of winning "regular" awards. She's in a whole new legendary stratosphere which is why she gets the lifetime achievement awards (even tho shes been getting them since TVR era -which is an accomplishment ..Mariah? Where you at?) So of course the younger acts have a better chance at winning the "regular" awards. Juss like how in the late 80s Whitney and Janet would take home trophies when they were nominated w/ Aretha, Patti, etc. You would hardly ever see Patti or Aretha win an award that Janet or Whitney was nominated it. Cus they were considered to be older acts while Janet and Whitney were the fresh and new it girls.

Best explanation. They tend to use older acts to round out and seemingly legitamize the award itself. It’s not even that the “regular” awards are lesser awards they’re just merited for/off a different demographic. Now, if Janet were to somehow win...it would be great that she’s still getting recognized BUT to some degree for the NAACP it would also look a bit - out of touch.

That’s not a shade to Janet trust me, she understands and could care less. These women, who she is herself a fan of, are building their careers. They’re doing consistent & hard work.

you people make me fucking sick to my stomach, you weak ass none stanning tricks :sigh: look at this list below okay, Ima need ya'll to clock the time correctly because of this list who should win? Now ask yo self who did win? :coffee:    If Janet shows up, she won before they even open the envelope :filenails:

    2008
Janet Jackson Why Did I Get Married? [20]
    Ruby Dee American Gangster
    Loretta Devine This Christmas
    Meagan Good Stomp the Yard
    Queen Latifah

    Hairspray

We all remember that show, and you being extra and rude is unnecessary. Janet had one song in rotation late last year & it looks like they have used her to round out the category. All accolades she receives is amazing, & we’ve seen her winning ICON awards left & right - if she wins “outstanding female artists”, whatever that exactly is, it’ll be nice.

BUT due to the actual push of the other artists currently - it would be likely HER would win. Also, that year (2008) Janet won she was also the presenter of Stevie Wonder’s lifetime achievement award - which is why she really came. She couldn’t even believe she won.

    She’s going on tour 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Sexism is real. A baby doesn’t mean a woman should sit home and “take care of it”

🙄 it has nothing to do with sexism MANY women want to be with and under their children when they have them. Also many women want stability for their children. Furthermore many women enjoy ”taking care” of their children.

Another fact, many artists actually hate the touring process. Stop trying to turn this into something it’s not.

What I said was true. Ask any shit producer (Neyo) on Discipline

That’s not the SOUND I was referring to.. There’s nothing Michael about TGF and Take Me Away. That vocal shit MJ was known for came natural to Janet but she, in the past, cut that the fuck out to separate her sound from his. Janet also produced those songs

Natural in the form of they are both siblings not natural in the form, she purposely played into it. If you can go to a Janet concert & hear her sing old Janet songs & sound just about the same as when she recorded them - BUT on Unbreakable you hear specific songs where she sounds very close to Michael & the music has a PURPOSEFUL “Jackson-esque” melody, rhythm, cadence...then it’s not the producers alone...it’s a collaborative thing she’s a part of.

MFN was a departure from that sound, and there’s other tracks that were a departure on Unbreakable, but she chose those records. She wasn’t forced into them. You’re not an MJ fan so I know it frustrates you to see how you can’t seem to escape their likenesses.

What’s with the whole “Vegas residency” movement wit u Janet fans?! Are you guys really scared of a b!tch cancelling a tour you want her just to perform in one place for the rest of her career?!? 😳😱🤪

Vegas Residencies are ONLY reserved for veteran vocalists and former teen popstars like Stiffney Spears!!! 🤪😎

While idk if it will or won’t happen, Vegas is going through a revamp of this model. Where it is no longer for veteran artists - Cardi B, Drake, & Lady Gaga all have residencies & their careers are still very young & growing.

She explored plenty on "Damita Jo" with tracks like "SloLove", "Island Life", "Sexhibition", and "Just A Little While". I always hated that Jimmy was pressed about Janet working with other people and so were some of the fans but oh well. She also explored on "Discipline". Both albums gave me 2 of my top 5 Janet tracks of all time.

Yea all those DJ tracks are great ones. I think we have a while before any music is dropped and things can go in any direction between now and then.

  10. Beyond Feedback Janet & Rodney have created subpar work. DJ was a very good album shrouded in drama which made it lose it buzz but still very underrated with many good tracks.

IF we’re going to say Jimmy & Terry give her a classic sound but others give her - Michael, wtf was The Great Forever? That was Michael & so was Take Me Away on the verses, Unbreakable at many places & on Gon Be Alright.

Its become obvious to me; they’re (all producers) that work with Janet are trying to preserve a “Jackson” sound & vibe. She is also heavily to “blame” for how much or little she branches out. There’s many lanes she can explore, and many of which she refuses or just doesn’t.

After hearing Ciara's 'Dose'....his sound hasn't evolved much.

It's a hard pass for me dawg

I actually love Ciara’s track “Dose” like love it heavily - BUT I agree. I don’t think he has anything to currently off Janet.

In all honesty, besides Feedback, I haven’t liked their work together. Make Me wasn’t a vibe. It was just new when nothing else was. I genuinely wish Janet went in her first direction.

IMO Janet is overdue a Pharrell track & if she’s going to branch, which she can, she should go for DJ Mustard - allowing his sound to be the guide, instead of recreating a sound she’s used to.

Yep. That make me side eye tf out of him too. I'm glad Jimmy and Terry had developed such a tight bond with Janet that they remained loyal to her. I know MJ Stans like to portray him as the victim especially when it comes to his siblings. But he did try to sabotage his siblings career. I always thought it was messed up what he did to Jermaine.

Jermaine deserved a lot of the treatment he received. He discredited Michael because Michael wanted to go solo. He used to make comments about Michael needing to give it up, WHILE Michael was recording Thriller, saying the music would never be as much a hit as with the brothers. Jermaine is the one who initially left the brothers thinking he would be the solo star & the cards didn’t fall that way for him.

So when they didn’t he called himself trying play MJ as he began his solo career. This is why Mike called Janet, Toya, & Rebbie on the stage at the Grammys & then thanked Jermaine - then all the sisters laughed. He was shooting back at that shit Jermaine had been talking. Jermaine always thought he was supposed to be the solo star.

  13. Janet’s fashion is & has always been touch and go. It’s not her strong suit & with no ill intent you can look at her thighs/hips & see she is/has been getting thicker. That’s usually when the baggier stuff comes out. Look at the Essence pic then look at the other.

  14. By far it’s “You” -

the fact that she spelled Conscience backwards to align with the theme of talking to yourself in the mirror. It being a personal reflection of your inner voice. The whispering intro to the verses which play as a voice in her head/her spirit keeping her in line.

It’s literally her smartest & best written & artistic song. There’s some other honorable mentions just because they lyrically have great messages. But “You” is brilliant & she’s never done anything as intricate since.
