"Batman 3: The Dark Knight Rises"

Whetting the appetite of fans the world over, producer Christopher Nolan announced the title of his third Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises." The movie scheduled to be filmed in New Orleans, will also avoid the 3D technology craze which seems to be in vogue. Nolan has also revealed that long time Batman nemesis, "The Riddler," will not be among the featured villain.

"Clash of the Titans 2"

Those who enjoyed the 2010 remake of "Clash of the Titans," will be happy to know that stars Sam Worthington (Perseus), Liam Neeson (Zeus) and Ralph Fiennes (Hades) will all be back for "Clash of the Titans 2." The movie which will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, will be shot in 3D instead of being converted over to the popular technology. "Clash 2" should be hitting theaters in March of 2012.

"Underworld 4"

Prepared to cash in on the continual popularity of vampires and werewolves will be "Underworld 4," which will once again feature Kate Beckinsale in the lead role. Beckinsale has held the role of the vampire Selena since the 2003 release of the first movie in this money making franchise. Formal shooting is scheduled to begin in March of 2011.

"The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part II"

Another vampire sequel scheduled to make it to the silver screen in 2012 will be the final chapter of the Twilight Saga, which will conclude with part two of "Breaking Dawn." The movie set to release near the end of 2012 will include the same cast that made the franchise a fan-favorite. Returning are Kristen Stewart (Bella), Taylor Lautner (Jacob), Robert Pattinson (Edward), and the supporting cast that make up the Cullen clan.

"Spider-Man 4"

Back to do box office battle with other movies of the superhero genre will be the new incarnation of Spider-Man. The latest version will have to do without the popular Tobey Maguire, who will be replaced by Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Gone too will be Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. Replacing Dunst will be rising star Emma Stone. The film, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles in December 2010, will be shot in 3D.

"Monster's Inc 2"

Not to be left out of the movie franchise frenzy, the children's animation genre will be represented by the release of "Monster's Inc 2." Produced by Pixar and distributed by Walt Disney Productions, "Monster's Inc 2" will reunite the voices of Billy Chrystal (Mike Wazowski) and John Goodman (Sulley). The movie is schedule for release in November 2012.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2"

The year should also see Hugh Jackman reprise the role as Wolverine for the fifth time in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2." The film will be set in Japan this time, and will have Wolverine training in the ways of the samurai. In between all the action sequences, Wolverine will also find time to fall in love with Mariko Yashida, the heir to the Yakuza family.

"Men In Black 3"

Reprising their roles as Agent J and Agent K, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will make the "Men in Black" franchise a trilogy in 2012. This time around, Will Smith will travel back in time to the year 1969, where he will team up with a younger version of Agent K to help keep the world from futuristic disaster.

"Star Trek 2"

"Star Trek 2" is another blockbuster sequel set for release in 2012. The movie will see the return of Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachry Quinto as Mr. Spock. The release date for the movie has been set for June 29, 2012, and though the cast is in place for this J. J. Abrams production, the plot for the movie has yet to be revealed.

"Madagascar 3"

Maybe the third time is the charm for this wacky cast of animals trying to get back to the Big Apple. With voices supplied by Chris Rock, David Schimmer, Jada Pinkett-Smith and possibly Victoria Beckham, the gang will make their way through Europe this time as part of a traveling circus. The animated feature is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2012.

I hope they don't disappoint. Their track record for sequels is great for Toy Story, but Cars 2 is making me worried for this one.
