TMZ has learned. Heavy D -- real name Dwight Arrington Myers -- was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today ... and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old. The performer, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was rushed to hospital this afternoon after collapsing at his Beverly Hills home, according to TMZ. The star, who enjoyed success during the Nineties with his group Heavy D & the Boyz, was pronounced dead at an LA medical centre at 1pm. Emergency services arrived at his home after a call was made to report an unconscious male, the website reports. Heavy D, famous for the hit track Now That We Found Love, is said to have been conscious when paramedics first arrived however he died soon after he was taken to hospital. The cause of death is unknown and police are investigating. He last tweeted 16 hours ago, telling his followers: 'BE INSPIRED!' Heavy D last performed at the BET Awards in October.
