  1. Just to clarity, I wasn't saying Elvis was trash or anything (I like "Jailhouse Rock"). I just don't find him exceptionally talented ... like Little Richard or Chuck Berry for example.
  2. ^ I also doubt it. The producer Nigel took no responsibility and even tried to pin it on MC (and Nicki). Said it was a mistake, but he knew exactly what he was doing. Mariah was still amazing when she first appeared as a guest vocal coach. We would've gotten more of this approach if not for ... other stuff lol And an all-star with the original 3 judges would be interesting though. I'd bet my best dime on Kelly FTW tho
  3. E=MC2 is one of my least favorites, but it's an overall fun listen. I don't play it as much as I used to, but whenever I do it's perfect for a drive down to the beach lol I still adore MOAIA to this day - one of my favorite R&B albums. I love that it's cohesive; the songs are like entries in a diary. "H.A.T.E.U." and "It's A Wrap" being the standout entries IMO And I place MIAMTEC somewhere in the middle. It's solid from start to finish and still sounds fresh a year later. "#Beautiful," "Dedicated," "Make It Look Good," "Money," and "Faded" are my top 5 as of now.
  4. I have no idea unless she's just alluding to the great Glitter theft lol. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Ariana though, simply because that would be too scandalous to mention.
  5. I feel bad for those planning to see the 5/13 date, I would be disappointed too, but I also understand what it's like to have bronchitis. Health should always comes first so I don't blame her or her doctors. I was once so sick with it, and I basically couldn't even talk for days. It sucks but it happens... Me too, it would be interesting to see a show of just the deeper album cuts. That was a great, thought-provoking article overall!
  6. New material I haven't heard? Of course! Heck, she could perform "French Blue" and I'd still be there
  7. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
  8. ^ Very nice interview! Despite adversity, she makes it through. I love how they quickly shut down the one skeptic. I still find them obnoxious but I appreciate the positivity.
  9. Yeah, VOL would've been a great choice to bookend her career with two songs. I guess she wanted something more uptempo and to showcase the high notes.
  10. I acknowledged it on the last page
  11. Just listened to the full audio last night. Sweet, she even did a smooth jazz intro for Heartbreaker!
  12. Plenty of detail here... And they're also award-winning before anyone tries to discredit it...
  13. I'm a week late. So late that this is the memorial service... Teaneck resident and singer Ben E. King laid to rest in Englewood MAY 7, 2015, 2:22 PM LAST UPDATED: THURSDAY, MAY 7, 2015, 3:02 PM BY JIM BECKERMAN Ben E. King, the soulful singer of 1961’s “Stand by Me” who died May 3, returned Thursday to the place from which all soul music ultimately derives: the church. A capacity crowd of 600 or more, at Englewood’s Community Baptist Church, bid farewell to the longtime Teaneck resident at a funeral service that mixed fond recollections, soaring rhetoric, and even more soaring music. “I sing because I’m happy, I sing because Mr. King – Mr. King – you are free!” intoned Angela Workman, formerly a backup singer for Ray Charles, as she put a personal stamp on the gospel classic “His Eye is on the Sparrow.” Family, friends and some well-known musical colleagues sat facing a chancel bedecked with floral displays — red carnations, white roses, orchids — and photos of the singer. In the foreground was the coffin: redwood, punctuated with metal bas-reliefs of the Pieta and the Last Supper. “He was a sweetheart,” said Don Gardner, the vocalist-drummer (“I Need Your Lovin’”) who had hits with Dee Dee Ford in the 1960s. “He was a star, but he wasn’t a star.” King, who was born Benjamin Earl Nelson in Henderson, North Carolina, had a series of hits, first as lead singer of The Drifters (“There Goes My Baby,” “Save the Last Dance for Me”) and as a solo artist (“I [Who Have Nothing]),” “Spanish Harlem”). But his most enduring song was “Stand by Me,” which became one of the great standards of the 20th century, inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress two months ago. “His music will live on forever,” said Malaak Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, both of them friends and fans of King. “He’s in a blessed place.” http://www.northjersey.com/news/teaneck-resident-and-singer-ben-e-king-laid-to-rest-in-englewood-1.1328266 It doesn't mention but he was 76. Ben E. King was a music legend and a major influence on R&B/Soul. "There Goes My Baby," "Don't Play That Song," and of course the timeless "Stand By Me" are all classics. May he rest in peace!
  14. All opinions are equal. "My review is better than your review" doesn't fly. And at least fans were there to witness it in person.
  15. Nice We love everybody but majority rules
  16. I watched clips of almost all the songs. I never thought I'd say this but "Thank God I Found You" was actually one of the highlights! The jazzy rearrangement was a stroke of genius! I'm more than pleased with where she is at this point. Based on the last tour and the Beacon shows, she will keep getting better!
  17. Of course Game posts the most negative review he can find Let's see if others agree... Aww, I guess not. And there's more where that came from.
  18. Finally heard the clips! Loved the transitions to the whistle notes ~ they blew me away! It is kinda surreal that she's performing "Someday" and "I Don't Wanna Cry" ~ I never thought she'd sing them again.
  19. I like Rihanna's dress. Got me in the mood to make pancakes
  20. I've spent a couple nights there. If you like aquariums, walks along the ocean, whale watching, and stuff like that, it's a good place to visit.
