Honey a sold out show is what it says on the tin - sold out ie there’s no more tickets to be sold. Don’t change the definition to pacify yourself because that’s when stanning goes too far. She had plenty tickets available for most dates and even went to groupon to try to flog them and failed.

I thought the Groupon thing was successful. I know at least in my city (Chicago) they sold out pretty quickly.  I think some of the struggles were emphasized during the earlier run of the tour. But things is as people found out that she was on tour, things started to improved.

The only people embarassed about the Groupon things are some nitpicky fans. Most people didn't really care, mostly because that was the first major promotional tool.

I'm not a fan of how it impacted the gross though.

In some minds, and I can see why, once the tour completed in the states and Janet went to Europe and began doing radio interviews, and doing the Spain performance, the natural question was the unresolved issue of Europe and when she would address it. I think that's only natural.  By announcing she's continuing to perform but NOT in Europe at all leaves many European fans tired and frustrated.  Let's not dismiss European fans because they matter and they got cancelled on twice for the same tour:umm:

I'm not dismissing anything, but do you things Janet should do absolutely nothing until Europe dates are announced?

I will disagree another thread over Europe would be unnecessary negativity over an issue we've discussed ad naseum so she either does or doesn't but if you're going to limit the discussion here to cruise ships and Vegas we are still fucked so :sigh:  we can limit it no more Europe talk we all know that's fucked...okay so let's do Vegas and Cruise ships only because thats way better right ?

If some want to complain about Europe, great. I just stay out of those discussions. I just don't see how that has anything to do with the topic at hand. Doing the cruise doesn't necessarily mean she's flipping the bird at Europe.

right now as it stands, indecision is a decision. Not making any moves whatsoever to deal with her European fanbase leaves that untouched. We cannot control how everything is executed, neither can she, but if she can do cruise ships sponsored by Denny's and for anyone that wonders, yes Denny's in the same sentence as Janet Jackson is side eye all day :umm: sponsor or not. If she can do cruise ships  she can do Trafalgar square in Europe :filenails:  you fucked it up fix the shit

But you can't say she isn't making any moves just because were not hearing anything. Everything we're saying is mere speculation at this point.

I agree with Game. This should be another thread.

I dont think the discussion is as much about the cruise event as much as it is about fixing Europe, and as far as her team is concerned, they have had ample time to figure out a reasonable approach, Janet and or Live Nation pulled dates back in 2016 I wanna say? So it's been almost three years since, a second leg of SOTW/Unbreakable reboot, and they STILL aint figured Europe out? And let's not play the European fans they are out there, and they have NOT been redressed.  Some of you here may wish to downplay things, and that's your thing, but make no mistake about it, she fucked up BAD with Europe and that needs to be fixed point blank period, if not then she is the criticisms she gets, "she's local" ...and for those of you that needed sugar go follow Janet to the cabinet :filenails:

Well she can't make certain decisions  simply to pacify others. I'm honestly waiting too, but we can't control how everything is executed.

Maybe stating you'll be happy with a random performance at Trafalgar Square might make things a little easier to plan. *shrugs*

What difference does it make? Both are for has beens with the exaceptipm being that Vegas is a little bit less tragic than a cruise act.

But it's only one cruise among other ventures. You making it seems like she booked that, the Soul Train Cruise, Cincinnati Fest, plus rolled out an ensemble tour with other 80s R&B acts.

  7. Some of the reactions are very dramatic imo. There seems to be a case if amnesia where people forgot that she did do ventures in attempt to reach a younger mainstream audience with success.

I stand by my opinion that cruises can be a bit cheesy, but if she want to perform for people who had her back through her troughs while giving to a great cause, it wont be the end of the world.

Y’all cute thinking “The Hall” cares about JanFam videos

Like all the HOFer fans just submit videos for their favs and the Hall takes that into consideration. :lmao:

No, no, no. I agree with you here. That's why I didn't think it was a big deal that he took some liberties.

Yes, it's nothing more than critique.

And in an attempt to bring attention to Janet's contributions and get her inducted into the RRHOF, one would think it would be important to present that evidence factually, no?

I don't think he should grossly misrepresent information, which I think he avoided doing. If he had the information you presented he should have definitely used it, but even with it, he didn't state anything un-plausible.

Moreover, he should have argued that Rhythm Nation isn't one of the greatest albums of all time mostly because it had hits and and sold alot. Though I think he went into the depths of the recording process sufficiently, he didn't exactly answer why should we still be listening to the album today.

I don't understand why a critique of a work of art has to be misconstrued as a vendetta. I was asked about a video, watched it, and then gave my thoughts about it. You're just creating something that isn't there in an attempt to make it something that it's clearly not.

It's more than this thread, but if there's nothing more than critique I'll kill it.

He probably did use a little liberty, I just didn't think that that was the real issue with the video.

  11. Honestly if some of you don't like Lamont's video, why dont you make video that you feel better represents Janet's impact? The main criticism (over reliance on chart stats, sales and awards) is completely justified,  but it seems that things has gotten personal with him.

  12. I only agree with that he should have not insinuated that the Tokyo shows had 55k people each. But he only stated that number as the capacity.

But other than that, some of the criticisms seem nitpicky and overdramatic.

That said, I think he overemphasized on the chart success where he could have discussed the artistic impact and influence in the industry more. It should have aimed to show the Janet was not just another pop star.

Janet, why aren't you touring overseas tho? ? That is the real question

Probably because Live Nation wants her to make up for the canceled dates on Unbreakable.

I think Janet hears everyone, but like everything else that's occured this past year, it takes time for things to come to fruition and to be executed properly. We just might have to keep our shirts in for a little longer.
