You know what, I change my opinion w/ CTBL. Though still forgettable, it's a cute little bop. But it's not a ballad, more mid tempo.

I've been waiting for someone to say this. Fans really overrate tf outta that song.
The best slow jam/ballad on DJ is CTBL.
I think IWY is decent. I don't see fans calling it some masterpiece or underrated gem though. If there's one song the fans overhype of DJ, it's Island Life. CTBL is just simply forgettable.

IGL isn’t a ballad imo. The tempo is wayyy to fast.
IWY is trash
I kinda agree with you on IGL. But it seems like some music critics want to categorize it that way.
Eh. I thought IWY was one of the highlights of DJ but I didn't really think it made for a strong single.

I don’t consider it a ballad
It's more quiet storm than a pop ballad but it's still a ballad imo.

Y'all will not pay Take Care dust at all.
I can understand Discipline leaving a bad taste with the ballads, but otherwise it was pretty hit or miss.

The holes in your logic. Go back and read, if you can. And what is this Lamont shit you’re talking about? He’s just another pressed idiot in this community.

Those ad hominems aren't cute on you.

Stop pulling shit out of your ass. I said in this thread I didn't care whether she said anything or not. I just enjoy poking holes in your faulty positions. And y'all make it so easy to do.
Why are still arguing then?
And what holes? You just want to think you have more of a right to complain about Janet than for others to defend her. And weren't you trashing Lamont's efforts?
But who cares now? Janet has spoken. Order restored.

I'm glad she reached out. Hopefully this will give us the motivation to anticipate what is coming ahead.

It's not even the decline but rather she also disappeared from oldies stations and stopped being labled as a major industry figure. She was relegated to being a celebrity with a music career. It became controversial to say she made an impact. She wasn't even seen as an 80s staple.

I'm not offended. I was disappointed. There's a difference. She's lucky I didn't blaspheme her name.
Offended, disappointed, still, I find it disingenuous to need for her to say something to validate the campaign.

C'mon. Let's be realistic here. What made the Appreciation day successful was the fact that JT performance reignited bad feelings over the fallout and how Janet was affected. But it didnt take away the fact that people sincerely actually liked her music and acknowledged her impact.
All in all, there's no need to feel offended at her silence. She's already expressed appreciation for our support.

And a lot of you make up elaborate stories about Janet’s thinking process as if any of you know and pass it off as fact.
Some of your opinions form based on what y’all think she believes instead of actual logic. Y’all think she didn’t say anything because of the JT hate involved or whatever...based on nothing but your need to endlessly defend everything she does.
The last 15 years have really taken a toll on some of you.
But in any case, everything doesn’t require this level of defensiveness from some of you.
You trying to feel entitled for Janet to say something when you really aren't.
Why does Janet have to be rude for not saying anything? Some of you are the one's that want to make it controversial. Most fans weren't really expecting anything.

I've never felt so strongly on a subject here so much as this in order for me to say this point blank. Anyone who thought after doing an appreciation day of Janet had a thank you coming is wrong Although you may not see it and disagree as you will, YOU ARE WRONG! Janet owes you nothing
Thing is she made a statement after the appreciation day was announced, so it's not like she doesn't appreciate anything. We clearly weren't gonna hear from her until she had another project coming, and the success of the hashtag wasn't gonna change that. Her boundaries were set and she wasn't budging.
What's rude is how some can't respect Janet's boundaries.

And if Janet had said thank you most of you wouldn’t even have these opinions.
It would’ve went from “she shouldn’t say thank you” to the complete opposite. Janet can never be wrong.
this SERVILE mentality
A thank you ( or anything she says) will always be welcomed.
But some you do don't want to consider why she hasn't or won't say anything.

Janet already threw her shade to Justin by announcing she wasn't gonna be in the Superbowl. Did she have to? Nope but she did to be shady and I love it.
You're kinda making my point. She didn't want to get in it. That's why she isn't saying anything else regarding or associated with that event. Any she clearly wasn't gonna say or do anything after that until she had another project on the horizon. So I don't understand the point of being offended that she isn't saying anything. She clearly made her stance and was done.

I don't even think it's about a thank you more so than some fans feeling Janet should have used the campaign to promote herself, which is beyond tacky.
Realistically, it was JT's moment and the campaign was used to combat that, so understandably, Janet doesn't want to get put in it.

The fact that she made the statement after the campaign was announced and started to pick up steam shows that she appreciated the efforts but SHE DID NOT WANT TO GET IN IT.
And this isn't like holding the door for someone. It's more like (indirectly) terrorizing an ex for someone when he or she clearly moved on.
