it was amazing! You could feel the bass in your chest, the music was so loud.. and the pyro and effects and lighting was insane! One of the best parts was that the band was mostly comprised of all former MJ band members that were scheduled to go out on the This Is It dates with him.. that was the biggest/best difference between the Immortal Tour and the MJ One residency show in vegas...the touring show had a live band and backup singers, as opposed to MJ One which is all remixed/mashed-up playback (still sounds incredible though)..

you are intentionally overlooking the fact that, as a black woman, Janet Jackson was opening doors for artists like Beyonce years before Beyonce had her learner's permit.. If there was no Janet, there'd damn sure be no Bey for you to suckle on.. During the eras that Janet was most profound, she didn't have to rub in people's faces that she was a strong powerful black woman, she just WAS! She was the first black woman pop superstar to have the success that she had... she made people of her generation comfortable enough to the point that when Beyonce wanted to steal her militant style of choreography (Ring The Alarm, Formation, etc), it was no longer surprising that a woman of her color would choose to do so.. one other thing, again I'm a fan of Bey (make no mistake), but Janet was using her fame and influence to bridge people from all over the world with attempts to unite and better them (Rhythm Nation, The Knowledge, New Agenda, Together Again, etc) and Beyonce's most anthemic/uniting song is....what...? Halo, maybe? I Was Here? When is Beyonce going to take the focus off of herself for 10 mins and attempt to bring unity to mankind (or her fans, at least) in some way, shape, or form similar to the name that this forum bares..??

I like Beyoncé and I liked Lemonade.. but imo, her performance was far too pretentious, regardless of any hidden/open meaning behind it.. it just wasn't good.. far too over the top.. I don't even recall her smiling even slightly during her 10 min on stage.. she needs to ground herself a little more I think.. Adele just stood in front of the mic and sang her heart out.. that's what people are responding to, Beyoncé has been surrounded by too many who think of her as a legit "queen" for far too long.. she doesn't write any of her songs on her own, she doesn't play any musical instruments, she doesn't even sing live that often.. she's a great entertainer, yes, but not a great musician.. and this is obviously only my opinion, but it's an opinion of someone who's paid to see her in concert twice, purchased two of her previous albums and has been at least a casual fan of hers since the 90's.. but it's too much.. enough is enough

We watched Moonlight over the weekend.. it was surprisingly good, bcuz I didn't know much about it.. its about a little black boy from Miami who gets bullied and mistreated by a lot of kids and folks around him, including his own mother, bcuz it turns out he's gay.. there's a really sad part when the kid, probably around 8yo, asks a grown man who's been "mentoring" him what does the word "faggot" mean, bcuz that's what his own mom calls him.. it's really interesting to see how the man responds to him and what he had to say.. eventually the movie shows the boy grow into a young adult going to high school and how he has a secret "fling" with an otherwise straight friend.. and then the movie shows them both grow into full adults and how they reconnect etc etc.. not the best of the best picture noms but definitely deserving of that category.. check it out everyone and lmk your thoughts!

it really is a great movie.. except Octavia spencer got the oscar nom for acting instead of Taraji P Henson, and while they were both amazing in the movie, I feel like Taraji should've gotten the nod instead..
