  1. Whitney didn't write for herself

Mariah has something called an "ego"

Whitney did write a couple of songs. And everyone has an ego of some kind. It's called Human Nature. And she's not sorry.

Meh. Whitney isn't a greatest role model when it comes to life path

No one is the greatest role model. Everyone makes mistakes in their life. It doesn't erase what they contributed. And Whitney has contributed plenty.

  2. Math doesn't lie.. the "fan vote" is literally worth .12% of the total votes.

The fact that the fan votes correlate with the inductees is just coincidence.

You made up your own facts based on your unsubstantiated opinion "the voters use it to guide them". You can't prove that they do but I can prove that the fan vote is worthless

its Opinion loosely based on history vs. Facts based on a simple mathematical equation

    A coincidence doesn't happen four times in a row.

  3. There's probably just a strong correlation between the two, but it is possible the voters could be swayed by the outcome of a popular vote

Fan vote is considered because it represents the public, maybe not the entire general public, but the public nonetheless. You have to factor in what the general public wants during the decision-making process, considering the Rock Hall is for the public. Fan vote just gives them insight into who the general public wants in the Hall. It isn't the sole deciding factor though, because the top five who win the fan vote isn't necessarily inducted. But for someone to say it doesn't matter at all is just ridiculous.

  4. let's not confuse popular current artists with actual quality music and production. If Janet didnt have a shot its because she's Janet, not because "Unbreakable" didnt deserve recognition. However, the point is mute, since Janet didnt make "Unbreakable" for awards

Popular, current artists did release quality music this year. And the acclaim attests to this. Unbreakable came out the first day of eligibility for the 2017 Grammys. That alone gave her less chances of a nomination given the amount of albums that came after it. You all still don't get how the Grammys work. It's about more than quality. Unbreakable came and went. That's just fact. She did nothing to push this album nor did she try to keep the album in the public's consciousness. When I think of THE ALBUMS of 2015 and 2016, I don't think Unbreakable. Unbreakable is not the most acclaimed, popular or successful album of the year. What makes you all think it deserves noms given all of this? Album of the Year was never gonna happen because Janet never got that nom, except once 30 years ago. But she could've secured noms in other categories had she kept the album afloat instead of letting it die like she did. The Grammys and the industry are not to blame for Janet's seemingly careless attitude toward her career and legacy. And if Janet didn't care about awards she wouldn't have submitted the album for consideration, so please spare me that narrative just to soothe the hurt.

  5. No. There is no market for 20+ year old concert DVDs. She'll barely make any profit off of it. It would have to be done as a highly-priced box set if it were to be done, though. But Janet has no motivation to put something like that together. So I would set my sights on other things, such as her actually completing a tour.

  6. I didn't even think about her not acknowledging the AMA or the RnRHoF nominations. Clearly Janet is in new mommy mode. She probably spents her day online baby shopping and reading those what to expect when your expecting books. I get her. I know the fans want Janet to do more to maintain her legacy.  But right now she is preparing to bring new life into this world. And at 50 she has to be over the moon.  I got a feeling that Janet and Wissam have been trying for a while now to have a baby.  Now it has happened. And I'm sure Janet is taking it all in even with all of the things that come with pregnancy good and bad.

Janet or her team simply tweeting about her AMA and R&R HOF nomination and encouraging fans to vote for her is hardly work on her part. That could be accomplished in less than five minutes . You all act as if Janet's an invalid just because she's pregnant.

  7. OMG!!!!! I don't know about sampled Songs from the 70s you guys!!! Ugh. I will like never ever win Jeopardy!!!!

Right. I should know ever fad band from the 1900s. I'm super embarrassed y'all

I googled them shortly after I asked btw. But I guess you missed that post.

Dispense with the sarcasm. Even for you, that's unbecoming. You do know that Janet is from the 1900's as well right? So I don't understand why you stated that. Chic still tours to this day, and consistently so; not everyone can do that.

    Hardly a fad.

Chic's commercial success may have been short-lived, however that didn't stop them from creating classic songs still referenced today, revolutionizing a genre and being nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 11 times. The fact that they were able to achieve all of that when their last top 10 Pop hit was in 1978, attests to how prolific they were.

And you shouldn't have had to Google them. As a fan of dance music, YOU SHOULD KNOW Chic. Or at the very least, have heard of them.

  8. OMG nooo I don't know who some disco band with 38 members from the 1970s!!!!!!!! Oh my! Why didn't I study Disco Irrelevants in colleg!!! Ugh!!!

I'm super embarrassed you guys!!! Ugh ?

You being a stan of a dance artist, yet having no clue of a band who are pioneers of the Disco genre, impacted Hip-hop and revolutionized dance music is what's embarrassing. Chic having such classic songs that are ingrained in popular culture and have been heavily sampled across multiple genres and you not knowing them is what's embarrassing. This being 2016, where you have a multitude of internet sources at your disposal to discover artists and STILL not knowing them is what's embarrassing.

  9. I like what you have to say, but I think the part that is missing is Janet is doing it for the fans only now, which will buy and show up at the shows, she doesnt need extensive promo for that. Where I will agree is if she gets booked for a crap load of dates in Europe she is setting herself up for some shit, cause I tend to think Europe loved Michael not Janet so much and she can't play 50 arenas across Europe

Relying simply on fans to show up has not been a total success for Janet. It wasn't a success in Europe and even some dates in the US were not complete sellouts. Janet needs more than just fans to support her. She's in an awkward place. Because her touring has been so inconsistent, she's not in the position of other veteran artists who can just sellout an entire arena tour based off name alone, history has proven that. She also isn't a current artist who has such a huge following that they'll go out in droves to see her. She's still an icon and a huge artist though, so she has to meet somewhere in the middle. I'm not saying she has to do all of this extensive promotion like some new artist. Just a few key spots letting the city or town know you're coming. She could've easily booked Paul O' Grady or an interview on BBC radio in Europe. That could've been accomplished in a day, and could've helped ticket sales substantially. The fact that many people didn't even know she was coming even with a new album out is troubling. And for her sake, she won't repeat that same mistake if she resumes this tour.
