Thinking about enlisting

Recommended Posts

I think I really want to join the army, I already have a degree and that means my rank will be higher. I don't know what pay I would get. I could pursue more school too. I told my mom she said they won't take me because I'm flat foot outta shape and limp wristed. :umm:

Im still researching online they say I could go off as soon as I want. You pick a job you prefer and wait....theres a physical, testing and boot camp, if anyone knows about joining let me know what to expect

aren't you too old to be "enlisting" :umm:

they don't care about you being gay.. but the rest is true

how old are you?

One would think that age to enlist in the US military would be a simple category. One is either old enough, or too old, right? Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way. By federal law (10 U.S.C., 505), the minimum age for enlistment in the United States Military is 17 (with parental consent) and 18 (without parental consent). The maximum age is 35.

Active Duty None-Prior Service

  • Army - 35 (must ship to basic training prior to 35th birthday. The Army experimented with raising the age limit to age 42 for a brief period of time, but effective April 1st, 2011, the Army has reverted to the lower age limit.
  • Air Force - 27
  • Navy - 34
  • Marines - 28
  • Coast Guard - Age 27. Note: up to age 32 for those selected to attend A-school directly upon enlistment (this is mostly for prior service).

    Reserve Non-Prior Service

    • Army Reserves - 35 (must ship to basic training prior to 35th birthday)
    • Army National Guard - 35 (changed from 42 in 2009)
    • Air Force Reserve - 34
    • Air National Guard - 40 (Changed from 34 in Aug 2009)
    • Naval Reserves - 39
    • Marine Corps Reserve - 29
    • Coast Guard Reserves - Age 39

I guess you can join the Air National Guard reserves, Coast Guard reserves, or the Naval Reserves

Google.. where did you look it up because I already posted an excellent source

You clearly don't want to do it if you don't know... or maybe you're jumping the gun.. whatever the reason... don't waste your time

I don't want to be the reason u didn't but the purpose of enlisting at 35+ is kinda pointless... Unless you're looking for young tail or the benefits (I suppose) but with you being flat footed and outta shape... Is it worth it to be in the reserves and go thru boot camp

what the hell is flat footed? its just a joke my mom made.....my biggest thing is wanting to wipe out student loan debt and get some money rolling in I dont think it will work because I dont think I can be in active duty just reserves

awww love of my life for the moment,......you know what I dont....okay I want money and some student loans wiped out and im 37....lay it on me....will they take me? where can I go what are my options?

The military is really downsizing since their really isn't anything going on in Afghan/Iraq. You have a degree so that's a good sign. If it's a 4 year degree, your rank will start off as a Specialist. I think it just depends on your experience..What's your degree in?

LOL..there is so much shit to discuss tbqh. I can't really type it out because there are many options. You can become an officer if you wanted too. I don't think age is an issue.
