jarrylf Posted June 3, 2013 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Nicki Minaj got a healthy serving of humble pie when she made a “surprise” appearance at the 2013 Hot 97 Summer Jam concert today. Featured as a guest act during 2 Chainz’s set, the rapper performed probably thought that she would have been the star of the show but she was greeted with boos instead of cheers from the crowd. Together with 2 Chainz, Minaj performed “I Luv Dem Strippers” and “Beez in the Trap” but sound issues made it very difficult to hear her voice over the music. However, the strange mix of jeers and boos from the Summer Jam patrons was loud and clear as Minaj did her best to win their favour. Even when Minaj made repeated appeals to the “bad bitches” and New York natives in the venue, the patrons were generally unresponsive except while booing her. The most awkward moment came at the end of Minaj’s performance when 2 Chainz asked the crowd to make noise for her and they responded with an even louder chorus of boos. Minaj’s nemesis, Mariah Carey, didn’t experience similar problems when she performed with Miguel earlier that evening, despite not being a rapper herself.
