CLEVELAND - After being told to "think about it overnight," Denny Obermiller, 28, of Maple Heights, returned to court Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty to the entire 19-count indictment against him in the aggravated murder of his grandparents.

Charges include the robbery of his grandparents' home and the rape of his 61-year-old grandmother, Candace Schneider.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said Obermiller strangled his grandparents on Aug. 11, and then tried to set a fire at their home on Thomas Street to hide the evidence. Three days later, the couple was found in their home by police, where the stove was left on and candles were burning inside.

Obermiller fled and was later arrested in Licking County, Ohio.

Facing a three-judge panel of Judges Shirley Strickland Saffold, Tim McGinty and John Sutula -- and against the advice of his lawyers -- Obermiller pleaded guilty over and over again to charges that took more than an hour to read.

Prosecutors will call 15 to 20 witnesses to testify about the facts in the case before the three-judge panel determines whether to accept the guilty plea.

Obermiller faces the possibility of being sentenced to death, if the plea is accepted.
