The exhibit features iconic women spanning the decades that have made an impact on the music industry. With 70 artists and 250 artifacts, there is a lot to take in. "We tried to feature almost a century of women's contributions to music, from the early 1920s to today. You really see all together how much progress women have made through popular music and also how much work we have to do to get to full equality," said Jacob McMurray, senior curator at the EMP. Key artifacts, videos, exclusive interviews and listening stations underscore the defining role that women have played in popular music, from the foremothers at the roots of rock, to musicians of the new millennium. The exhibit runs through September 22, 2013 and is included in the price of admission to the EMP. For those of you who can't watch the video...
