Janet Hits #1 for the Seventh Time!

Janet is not thriving like that in the UK. Janet's team never tried hard to market her there idk why but the UK has never been a priority to her which is why she isnt as massive there as she could be.

I actually recall reading somewhere that as HUGE as RN was as an era (singles, chart positions, sales ) none of the RN singles charted well and/or at all in the UK. So that tells you something. How could she slay the hell outta our charts but not do shit on theirs? No push.

I think her highest RN single was Black Cat.

It's weird because she performed for the Queen yet the song Rhythm Nation only got to 23. I wonder how different it was back then, than it is now.

Having said that, she finally did become a huge name by herself. When i was growing up, she was inescapable from the TV and radio.

That had more to do with the RN singles being urban/New Jack Swing.

All her other big eras managed to score one or two hits in the UK.

but UK never had a "prejudice" against a new trend and/ or style of music from what I see based on their charts. Bobby Brown was the first to do a new jack swing album and his singles and album were successful in the UK.  Besides all her singles weren't urban heavy with songs like Escapade, Love Will Never Do (Without You)..and Black Cat. So it has NOTHING to do with that at all.
