  1. It feels like this Dubai show is just to promote her coming jewelry line. Not necessarily to keep the "tour" going but just for the exposure of what she's bringing the UAE market.
  2. Yea man I loved the RWU tour and I hate it didn't sell which lead to the fall of the tour. Also I don't believe Janet thought of UCAP after performing for the business man no matter whose mouth it came out of. I believe that idea came after RWU tour didn't sell & they discussed how she could revive her touring legacy. It was the compromise to see how to make it work. And UCAP was a mediocre tour in my opinion. It wasn't nearly as good as this tour & I think this tour is rather stripped down too, but I think it fits the Janet of right now.
  3. By far, IMO, the RWU tour was one of the best tours. It had the longest run time, she was dancing FAR MORE...less of the strut I mean and less breaks, and the stage was big with removable flooring & lifts. Pros & the one of the BEST set list. With all the songs through her career. This tour is great & I love these remixes more but that tour was great.
  4. I love that collaboration of that interview with that interview. I think about that interview often in reference to her now. That was super dope!
  5. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, I understand what you mean & feel...I disagree. It feels like a more conscious vibe of The Body That Loves You...same feel, but different message.
  6. I love this damn song...one of my favorites...I always compare it vocally to Island Life...I think they're good competition for each other lol. But this damn song feels so smooth and beautiful. Just effortlessly done. One of the best tracks on AFY...top 5, maybe top 3.
  7. I don't want a country album from Janet lol, but I would consider Well Traveled to be more alternative. Even though it has that same vibe as Ho-Hey by the Lumineers.
  8. Is this from an ad? Or did some fan get bored?
  9. Damn who dislikes Missy that much? That's weird lol...she's one of those artist that it's hard to dislike in my opinion. She's definitely legendary, and if accolades will be argued, some of the people who are considered legendary do not have the most awards, Patti Labelle, Luther Vandross, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan...so awards are not what makes the legend. Artistry in my opinion does. Missy shifted the lane in visual arts for female hip-hop artist as well as in sound...from producing to writing to her own music.
  10. We just have to make sure we make it through the month of April into the shows in the US
  11. Well, this album has been her best vocals since the VR o AFY ironically. So idk.
  12. Yea up until Unbreakable I don't think Janet tried to sound like Mike, well maybe in her first album or so & that was only by default & the business. The business I think wanted to brand a sound that worked & tried to box her into a "Jackson" sound that ended up being more of the Michael sound because just being honest - he was the main vocalist. BUT this album it kinda feels like they went classic Janet & mixed in classic Jackson like Gon B' Alright, Dream Maker, & idc what anyone argues TGF is MJs vibe allllllll day. There are other points on the album through out where she sounds like him to me though but I think some of it is maturity of her voice getting deeper & others might be the way they produced this album. I know this may be unpopular but even if it's not admitted I think minor parts of it was on purpose too. Not to be Mike but to be nostalgic & remind of the "family" feel.
  13. I have a genuine question. Why does that annoy people when they came from the same nutsack & egg combination? Lol it's something they literally cannot help, and it's actually true. It could be why they're the most successful from the family because they share the same "it" quality in their voice. It's like being annoyed with their parents for making similar siblings lol. And she she would limit her true ability so she isn't compared? I don't think that's the reason & honestly I think when Mike sang out & she sings out, it's similar but Mike had a little something different.
  14. I don't know about the 3 year plan unless there's something that goes on to keep the interest high. But part of that plan might be subtle ways to keep the project in background places. I mean like commercials, tv shows, and stuff like that. It might not always be in huge public ways.
  15. Oh & most artist wouldn't be who they are without their teams. Whitney, Janet, Adele, Michael...every part of the process and "machine" matters.
  16. If you want to judge Adele's success & accolades by one pitchy performance I can pull up one performance of Whitney where she sounds HELLA mediocre & do the same. They're human & when you're actually singing live you run the risk of not being perfect. Every excellent vocalist has their day and time. No performance is great EVERY time. That's called being human. I disagree that Adele sounds better on albums vs. live. IMO, she sounds the same MOST times which is what makes her excellent. Janet also doesn't see the hype behind her dancing or her vocals, but she believes in her acting - which in my opinion is the lesser of the 3 - would we call Janet's perspective of her talents proof of her being mediocre? Can we say "Janet's mediocre dancing & singing, which she too says is not that great..." Does that make the point or perspective more valid? Idk, it just feels like shots for no reason. Yes Whitney is a talent that is a beast all by herself but so is Adele. Ones greatness doesn't lessen the others. As far as JHud, her vocals are powerful but they're loud as fuck & that's part of her dilemma. They can't quite make marketable music for her because she's so loud & it can even become obnoxious. What you're calling manufactured seems to be created more by the ears than the industry.
  17. Rename it to - I Gotta Hear Me
  18. I have never seen this much hate for Adele ever. I mean absolutely no disrespect but to say Adele can't sing but your a fan of Janet whose range isn't nearly powerhouse or close to Adele feels hypocritical. No one has been brainwashed to think Adele can sing or is a powerhouse. If a person has ears & watches her, especially live, she's an effortless talent. Shes also a writer, and her vocal range is epic. Everyone can have an opinion, but this post felt more like hate for the success she's getting
  19. Oh yea, and I don't think that Janet would be over singing I think she would be just singing lol. Using her voice's potential. Janet's LWNDWY is the shit, especially the end Lonely is too. HDKIA is something that showed she could go there but I think after a certain point her voice matured and she couldn't get that high anymore. It happens. Unbreakable has had some of the best vocals since the VR. AFY is a very good track vocally but I think it can get lost in being so POP that you don't focus on her vocals. Also FHTF is another track that I think does Janet some justice without it being high notes, but IF I had to choose a song where she played into the whisper perfectly & showed beautiful vocals I would say "Anything" which is one of my favorite tracks on VR Lol this could be a thread all by itself I could talk about her singing for days.
  20. Yea I read an interview a few years back with a famous producer who I can't remember right now, who wanted to work with Janet and said the same thing. Lol it actually sounds like you're quoting that interview. But Janet can get louder & I think she does have some range, but also over the years her voice matured and deepened. That also plays a part in her range and what she can do. This album showed me that there was still some reach in there. It also showed me how producers make a big diff. I think Jimmy & Terry know how her vocals sound best. And personally I think they do push her but she can go further.
  21. I agree! I think when Janet leans more into her higher vocals she has a beautiful tone. For me songs like What Can I Say, IGL, Lonely, 24Play, ATAP, Night - chorus, Again - VR Tour live, ATAP - SNL, & when she does those background adlibs really shows the beauty in her voice. A lot of people didn't like the Rich Harrison collab, & I can KINDA understand if they felt it was too high or pitchy, but that shit was hot and one of my favorites. But I think she isn't often pushed in that direction often & her lack of desire to really sing in her off time or without a real need was always interesting to me. Some times I think she's not always confident in her voice...but idk.
  22. She's very beautiful. I would have liked to see more of this look
  23. I think Janet took a recording break for awhile during that time. I think she might have considered & even tried a couple times but I honestly think she had a lot of down time. Also I remember Jimmy mentioning how Janet was slightly concerned or self-conscious (for a lack of better terms) about singing some of the notes because she said it had been awhile for her. So I take it as her having been away from singing & exercising her vocals. It's in the article where he mentions After You Fall being the first track they recorded for the album. I'm not saying she didn't try or work with anyone else on anything, I'm just saying I don't think she was being consistent & I don't think she was giving her all. I think she dabbled. Side note - Janet not really singing that much outside the studio and also being conscious of her voice has always been interesting to me. I felt I could tell there were moments in the last few albums where she really didn't "go there" or wasn't challenged like Terry & Jimmy are known to do. Also like Rich Harrison would do with her. But it always made me wonder why she doesn't sing loosely & in personal time. I love her voice & understand the dynamic of it but nonetheless...it's always been interesting to me.
  24. LOL, well supposedly Janet called Jimmy.
