  1. It was an amazing show. I cried super hard when she came out. I do think it’s criminally underrated. I realize now writing this that I miss some of the big production elements in her more recent tours.
  2. I understand where you’re coming from and I also know that for me, personally, I probably would be lax. Somewhere ten years ago, it dawned on me that I ain’t gonna get the eras I want (massive promo, massive tours, Janet reconnecting with all her fans, etc.). If Janet was to only tour in Europe, I’d buy a ticket to go see her the same way I was planning to do it for Michael. I also know that’s not feasible nor fair to all of her fans. I’ve learned to accept that shit will go left with her/change at a moment’s notice. It’s why I only see her in LA even though I no longer in live in California knowing full well ticket prices are higher and I pay for airfare because she never cancels that date/venue.
  3. I couldn’t agree more. It’s amazing how much time and perspective changes you. If this was like 2006 I’d be caring about her promo. We are in 2018 and it couldn’t be clearer that she’s in a different space and it isn’t about domination anymore. She’s basically been quietly rebuilding her name on her own pace, on her own time, and in a manner that’s showing she’s not trying to compete with artists that basically grew up in the house she built and it’s working. She’s enjoying it and so am I.
  4. I agree with Bu. I sincerely commend Mariah to come out and talk about her mental illness and she probably put it off for years because people called her “crazy” without realizing what she was going through and she was probably afraid and rightfully so, of the stigma attached to it. I don’t see anything crazy about her thinking about a pivotal moment in her career. Or maybe I’m crazy because I can think of certain moments in my own career that mean more to me than most.
  5. I think Janet can do Japan. Out of all the markets outside of the US that was always one of her strongest and she clearly loved them which is why they always had the best unreleased/additional tracks on her albums.
  6. I thought it was great! I loved the island influences in the performance. I also think someone is getting their ass beat for AFY part with a headset because it wasn’t clean. One of my favorite things about Janet and her performances is that she and her dancers move like a unit more so than any other artist: clean lines, in sync, etc. But overall I really liked it.
  7. I actually like The Distance. And after 100 times playing it, I now remember what With You sounds like.
  8. I actually like this song more today than I did 12 years ago. I used to skip it.
  9. I don’t even know what songs are on this album.
  10. I’m not holding my breath and Sister Rosetta Thorpe should’ve been the first person they inducted. She’s the architect behind the damn genre.
  11. Issa no. The song is only three minutes but feels a lot longer and I forgot what it sounded like when I tried to remember it so I had to go back. She’s giving me Charmbracelet vocals this time around.
  12. AFY has some very strong tracks but as an album Unbreakable was better to me. I’m looking at some of these debates and laughing. I don’t like AYF, Love Scene, nor Truth.

    Is Water Wet?

Stop it lol. You know I love you.
  14. I don’t think she reads this board. And yes I know I’m super late in this reply lol. I can’t imagine JJ coming here.
  15. The song is okay but the video is terrible. Nothing is happening.

    Is Water Wet?

I’m on my own side at this point ?
  17. This is the last cd I ever purchased. I remember also buying it off of iTunes and being nervous about listening to it because it had been so long and I was worried about my expectations. I was on a flight to Boston for a vacation (which is ironic considering that’s where I was when I heard Discipline for the first time), and I decided to listen to it. Once I listened to “Night,” it was over. I met up with a fellow JanFam member/former JJ.com forumer and we got to gush about the album. A few weeks later I got to see her live. It was a really good time in my life. I played the album a few times today to celebrate. Happy Birthday!
  18. Shit I voted for Bernie lol. I’ve known about him since his filibuster all those years ago when he didn’t want the Bush tax cuts to be extended. I watched it on CSPAN seven or eight years ago. It was a Change Year and the Democrats didn’t read that right.
  19. She’s a woman and she’s expected to be likable and as a woman in politics, that’s a huge glass ceiling. I face it in Corporate America. With that said, I begrudgingly voted her.
  20. I’m sure it does change you. The Bushes were always nice to the Obamas though as soon as he won. There were reports that they made the transition as smoothly as possible for them. They always liked each other. It was the Clintons that had interesting relationships with other Presidents lol.
