Just saw the movie! Janet was amazing in this movie. I was really, really impressed with her acting I must say - I gagged when most of the ladies broke into a Def Jam Poetry session I wasn't ready for it Tessa made me cringe with her poem in the dance class. Everyone in my theater was like I felt that she was a bit too amateurish for the role. When she delivered her lines it felt so contrived and the same can be said for Kerry too. Loretta, Thandie and Whoopi made me LOL through out the movie. I know it was meant to be serious but they were just too extra. Though Loretta was the main one that carried the movie she was just too theatrical. Janet's poem was the only one that flowed; I didn't realize it was poem until after she finished. Phylicia did a fine job too. Best: Loretta, Phylicia, Janet and Thandie Mediocre: Kimberley and Hill Harper Worst: Anika, Kerry, Tessa, Omari and Whoopi Overall rating of movie: 2.5/5 stars

Easily, Meryl. Janet's character was so underdeveloped and she hardly showcased her bitchy side outside of that watered down version of Miranda in the first scene.
