I'm certainly not going to blame the economic downfall on any one party - I think it transcends that. It's just that Obama has born the brunt of it because of when he entered office (would've happened to whoever was elected at that time - regardless of party). Regardless of what he's actually accomplished, he hasn't been adequately able to convey reassurance and encouragement to the American people. The backlash was inevitable.

He shouldn't have violated company policy, but still. I wonder how they're going to deal with him - I doubt they want to go all the way and fire him. He's the star of the damn network.

They did plenty, but not enough. Of course, how much can one do in the face of the largest financial crisis since the Great Depression? People are understandably frustrated, but to a degree, only so much can be done in such a short amount of time to confront such a huge crisis. Not that the Dems haven't bungled a few things (namely - communicating a message), but the things people are most upset about are largely insurmountable in the short term.
