Former Arkansas Governor and Fox News personality Mike Huckabee believes the 'gay' glittering of a presidential candidate should be a chargeable offense.

Huckabee made his remarks after activists dumped glitter on 2 GOP candidates.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was glitter bombed last month by activist Nick Espinosa during a book signing stop in Minneapolis before attending a benefit for the Minnesota Family Council, a group that opposes rights for LGBT people.

“Feel the rainbow, Newt,” Espinosa said as he doused Gingrich with glitter. “Stop the hate. Stop the anti-gay politics. It's dividing our country and it's not fixing our country.”

At a book signing in San Francisco last week, two female activists dumped pink glitter and confetti on former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.

“Tim Pawlenty, where is your courage to stand? Stand for reproductive rights! Stand for gay rights!” Nancy Mancias and Chelsea Byers of CODEPINK shouted as they assailed the presidential hopeful, who was seated behind a table signing copies of his book Courage To Stand.

Appearing on Fox News, Huckabee, who decided earlier this year against vying for the GOP nomination, said the glitter bandits had crossed the line.

“The people ought to be arrested who did that,” Huckabee told Follow the Money's Eric Bolling. “That's an assault.”

“It's one thing to yell at a candidate. You never put your hands on him, you don't touch him. You've got to draw the line,” he added. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

The day after he made his remarks, Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann became the third GOP candidate to “feel the rainbow.”

Activist Rachel E. B. Lang said she glittered Bachmann “to draw attention to her anti-gay crusade.”

“As the proud daughter of a lesbian mom living in the state of Minnesota, I know first hand how harmful Michele's anti-gay rhetoric and policy positions can be,” Lang said.

So far, none of the glitter bandits have reported being charged with assault.
