I don't see any full reviews.

The focus of most reviews then centered around his image, controversies, and past sells (whether he could live up to it or not) and had little to do with the actual music on Vince.

Ummm, you have to click the links to read the full reviews. But if you just read the small excerpts, you'll see they talk about the music.

Stop with the pity "Why MJ? Why MJ?" crap! and read the quotes Miss Enjoi posted. They critiqued the album for what it is.

and I really can't with you guys trying to shun these reviews. Especially, Rolling Stone. If it were praise towards your faves y'all would be all over it. :sigh: So let's not act like they don't matter.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: at the bold. It's really not that serious.

I'm not giving pity. I'm reading from BOTH sides. Not just critics and not just Michael. I've read BOTH and I've weighed out that though it wasn't nearly his best, he gave an excellent work. Michael sold like crazy worldwide and that wasn't for nothing. People don't buy what they don't like to some degree. Hell since Janet was brought up, let's not forget how she said her brother deserved to be on top with that album and she wanted to be right behind him if hers didn't hit number one.

There have been others who have been trying to sing his praises since '09 and I'm not hearing it at all. Like most of Michael's fans and especially his stans. The Rolling Stone of the 80s isn't the Rolling Stone of the new millenium. That applies to so many critics. People do quit, retire, lose their jobs, etc. So not all of the same people reviewing back then, reviewed Invincible. Closed.

I just know I don't like hearing it, so there.

You can't teach the legally blind how to work a computer. :filenails:

The reviews about the music are all pretty there.

"At 78 minutes this is too long, and especially given his history, "The Lost Children" is offensive. But the first three tracks are the Rodney Jerkins of the year, "2000 Watts" is the Teddy Riley of the past five years, and even the prunables offer small surprises."

"The mix is such that the saccharine ("You Are My Life" and "Heaven Can Wait") is outweighed by the brilliant ("Whatever Happens" and "The Lost Children"), creating a record that is quite relevant while at the same time being experimental and fresh."

"Halfway through the album, Michael ruins the good mood with a seemingly endless run of soggy, would-be anthems and self-pitying celebrity complaints."

Obvious music critiques.

It has its moments. But halfway through the album it really loses steam. -_-

It isn't the greatest of his catalog and I will give anyone that. I don't rank it as high as I do, Dangerous(my fave). But it isn't his worst. That's just my thing. Dislike the album, sure. Call it horrible? really? No. It was a good enough bounceback for him. I just hate how people try to compare EVERY album to Thriller. That's what annoys me. Making Thriller the standard line. Michael never even did that. :sigh:

Thank for this info...I'm clicking on a few links now and posting full reviews.

MICHAEL JACKSON

Invincible (Epic)

Jackson's obsession with fame, his grotesque life magnified by his grotesque wealth, are such an offense to rock aesthetes that the fact that he's a great musician is now often forgotten. I use the present tense because (a) his skills seem undiminished and (B) as only Frank Kogan has listened dispassionately enough to remark, he's doing new stuff with them—his funk is steelier and his ballads are airier, both to disquieting effect. At 78 minutes this is too long, and especially given his history, "The Lost Children" is offensive. But the first three tracks are the Rodney Jerkins of the year, "2000 Watts" is the Teddy Riley of the past five years, and even the prunables offer small surprises. Don't believe the hype matters. A MINUS

THAT. Is exactly what I'm talking about...you open up the review focusing EXCLUSIVELY on the man in an EXTREMELY negative light...and then you say the reviewer listened to dispassionately.

I'll post more as I find them...

But suffice to say my point PROVEN yet again. :coffee:

It's a decent album released passed his prime. It's just that it loses steam halfway through, and it's a mash up of previous works. Invincible is pretty much the equivalent of Janet's Damita Jo.

Janet said that out of love and the fact that he had been through so much. She probably used Invincible as a coaster. :filenails:

She was his sister. She wouldn't sugarcoat a lie for or to her brother. She meant what she said. She really liked the album. :filenails:

Sorry I have to disagree with you. The ending of that first part is a music critique, as is the second line, and the rest of that paragraph. :umm:

Every review focuses a bit on the life of the artist to give the reader some background information.
