Mr. Wonder
Not a good analogy. Being inspired by someone and asking to use producers aren't on the same parallel. Not even close.
ThatOtherFan
Not a good analogy. Being inspired by someone and asking to use producers aren't on the same parallel. Not even close. Very good analogy. It is influence. Janet's work inspired him to collaborate with the same people to create his own work. Just as Mike's original established template directly influenced how Janet crafted her own niche. Therefore, you again have a situation where an argument can be made for both blatantly influencing the other.
Mr. Wonder
Influencing is taking bits and pieces from another artist and creating your own style. Not recycling producers and video directors.
ThatOtherFan
Influencing is taking bits and pieces from another artist and creating your own style. Not recycling producers and video directors. The "bits and pieces" Janet took were in regard to Mike's established template, which she created her own niche from. The "bits and pieces" Mike took were in regard to some of the people she had previously collaborated with, which he used to create his own separate works. Mr. Wonder
Did Janet ever recycle and of MJ's directors or producers?
ThatOtherFan
Did Janet ever recycle and of MJ's directors or producers? I already responded to this: The "bits and pieces" Janet took were in regard to Mike's established template, which she created her own niche from. The "bits and pieces" Mike took were in regard to some of the people she had previously collaborated with, which he used to create his own separate works. Mr. Wonder
MJ didn't create his own works from using Janet's people. Hell he pretty much xeroxed LWND for ITC.
ThatOtherFan
That is one example. ..and Herb Ritts worked with all the big acts of the time and basically recreated the same video for each. Outside of that situation (and even with the inclusion of that situation), you still have a scenario where both influenced the other. You are trying to credit one of the other, when it's clear both were influenced by the other (and blatantly)
Mr. Wonder
MJ also used the EXACT same vocal style for WYWTOM as Janet did on SOTW.
ThatOtherFan
MJ also used the EXACT same vocal style for WYWTOM as Janet did on SOTW. Again, that relates to: The "bits and pieces" Janet took were in regard to Mike's established template, which she created her own niche from. The "bits and pieces" Mike took were in regard to some of the people she had previously collaborated with, which he used to create his own separate works. You are giving me examples of MJ being influenced by Janet, but the fact remains that they both "blatantly" influenced by the other.
Mr. Wonder
That's not influence. That's xeroxing. He didn't even make it his own. He pretty much copied it.
ThatOtherFan
That's not influence. That's xeroxing. He didn't even make it his own. He pretty much copied it. We've already discussed how much Mike loved RN and how it influenced his work. So yes, that would be an example (from your perception) of Janet's "blatant" influence on Mike's work. What you are dismissing is that they were both blatantly influenced by and took from the other. You are just giving specific examples (some good, some not so good) of how Janet influenced Mike. That doesn't negate the fact that both were blatantly influential on the others careers. Therefore, making comparing and contrasting silly because BOTH were blatantly influential on the other. No matter how many times you break it down, that's always the conclusion you're going to arrive at. lol Hence, it being silly for MJ stans and JJ stans to do so...as I've said from the beginning. janetDAYZ
Where are YOUR examples TOF? Janet being influenced by his template is ALL you have?
Mr. Wonder
It's a no brainer they both influenced each other. The point is, it's clear who influenced who more.
ThatOtherFan
Where are YOUR examples TOF? Janet being influenced by his template is ALL you have? That statement encompasses alot of "specific" examples. As I told Austineisha, even if I (or someone else) were to list them you still ultimately arrive at the same conclusion. Both "blatantly" influenced the other.
ThatOtherFan
It's a no brainer they both influenced each other. The point is, it's clear who influenced who more. No, it isn't clear who influenced who more...because the argument can be made for BOTH having influenced the other more. Which is why you would ultimately arrive at the same conclusion, they both BLATANTLY influenced the other.
Mr. Wonder
And it's clear who influenced who MORE.
ThatOtherFan
And it's clear who influenced who MORE. No it isn't...and no matter how many examples you list you will always arrive at the same conclusion that the BOTH influenced each other blatantly. Which doesn't give "more" credit to one or the other.
