janetDAYZ
His legacy didn't die. People just opted for the more current style/sound of music. Is he even trying to produce now? You you still hear about other legendary producers as Quincy,JJ&T but whens the last you've heard ANYONE mention Babyface. He just doesnt get recognition..its almost like he's never existed. janetDAYZ
at Babyface making timeless music. Ch... His sound is dated hence why it stayed in the 90's. I don't even hear his work on the R&B radio stations anymore but I still hear R. Kelly's work with Ron Isley, Kelly Price, MJ and etc. One remained relevant and made classic R&B music while the other is a memory and did some watered-down commercial R&B. WOW

art
Should have known SOMEONE was gonna be in here doin the most but damn I didnt think ANY could deny Babyface's contribution to music. Chile boo! You asked what happened to Babyface's legacy and I answered that his work is DATED and it stayed in the 90's. No where did I deny his contribution to R&B. Yes, he was a force in the 90's and he wrote many hits back then but I wouldn't consider the vast majority of his work 'timeless' or better than R. Kelly's work. You also said "He was R.Kelly before R.Kelly was R.kelly. Its a little disturbing that he doesnt get the same credit or acknowlegdment as Kellz" which I disagreed with seeing as R. Kelly stayed relevant in his respected genre through out his whole career and contributed to music far more than Babyface. So I don't see why it's disturbing that he's acknowledged more than Babyface. That is all.

He just doesnt get recognition..its almost like he's never existed. you really can't compare . Quincy JJ&T got attached to artists who became Legends. sure Babyface worked with huge artists but he didn't get attached to them/their music. for example, when you think about Quincy , MJ comes to mind. When you think about JJ&T , Janet comes to mind When you think about Stuart Price or William Orbit , Madonna comes to mind As for Babyface the closest it get's is Toni Braxton and we all know how that end up ... this is disgusting but i can tell you that JD will get more recognition then Babyface because of Mariah Carey and Flusher
Bailey
i think babyface sound got old a producer only last for about 7 years until their sound becomes played out I think your right, no matter who the producer is they have a "sound" to their music and at some point that sound becomes ubiquitous and Face got to the point every song sounded too alike, its like I can hear a song and know Jimmy and Terry had input into or a Timbaland beat

Her first album was great.. From beginning to end.. 7 songs played on the radio from one album.. That is up there with Janet, Mike and Whitney.. From beginning to end.. 7 songs played on the radio from one album.. That is up there with Janet, Mike and Whitney.. and her hot steam ended there . She was HUGE back in the 90's but where is she now? Her career pretty much started and ended there. After the Heat she wasn't able to stay relevant (even though she tried) and did not make anyone follow her steps
