Los Angeles (CNN) -- The Michael Jackson wrongful death trial, which promises dramatic revelations and legal fireworks, begins in a small Los Angeles courtroom with opening statements [Today 4/29].

Jurors earning $15 a day will listen to several months of testimony before deciding whether one of the world's largest entertainment companies should pay Jackson's mother and three children billions of dollars for its liability in the pop icon's death.

Famous Jackson family member Janet, will sit just a few feet from the jury as Michael's oldest son and daughter describe their father's last days. But they will also endure weeks of tedious testimony from medical and financial experts offering opinions about the singer's health, addiction and career.

Only a handful of journalists and a few members of the public will be allowed inside the courtroom because many of its 45 seats are reserved for parties involved in the trial, including the Jackson family. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos denied CNN's request to televise the trial.

Pretrial hearings have featured angry and personal exchanges between lawyers for the two sides, made more intense by the intimacy of the tiny courtroom.

The witness lists include many members of the Jackson family, including matriarch Katherine Jackson. Other celebrity witnesses on the list are Sharon Osbourne, Quincy Jones, Spike Lee, Ray Parker Jr., Lisa Marie Presley, Diana Ross and Lou Ferrigno.

I'm pretty shocked this story died down the way it has (not on here but in the media)

Well new Janet appearances! This witness list is pretty damn impressive

that's because it hasn't started... until tomorrow.. once it does.. I'm sure there will be tons.

I'm upset that it's not televised

LOL nah I was just giving it slight thought to actually doing that, but yea I don't know if it's worth it just for her to walk past looking down or waving high....then waiting hours for her to come out again. (I would like to see Katherine tho, I lknow she's good for some smiles and waves lol. I think I will go to Forrest Lawn this year tho on either the anniversary or birthday and see which Jacksons show up.

AEG expects to call Janet (and some of the lessors) as a defense witness to detail her late brother's drug addiction. There was a risk in allowing any of them in the courtroom before they testified, said Putnam.

He asked the judge to banish Randy, the only sibling in court on Tuesday. Panish, the family lawyer, responded that Jackson's mother, Katherine, 82, needed one of her children to sit with her each day. She sat in the front row, feet from jurors. "He can remain, but you cannot have five in the courtroom," ruled Judge Yvette Palazuelos.

  • 1 month later...

Prince Jackson testified today (yesterday 6/27). Here are some points:

  • Prince's HS GPA is 3.68
  • Prince said he cannot sing (hmmm)
  • Prince claims MJ built Neverland for his own children
  • Prince thought the IVs MJ was taking were vitamins
  • AEG never paid Dr. Murray. MJ would feel bad and make the children give him money... MJ offered Murray directly... but Murray would decline... Murray would either decline or take half from the children when offered
  • Prince & Paris don't celebrate their birthdays anymore.
  • Prince claimed AEG was suppose to pay Dr. Murray... but didn't

  • MJ was always sensitive
  • Katherine would make the suits the Jackson 5 would perform in early on in their career
  • MJ was bitten by a dog as a child but was afraid of dog despite him purchasing one for his children
  • MJ took Katherine's sequined glove from her closet and it became historic
  • Mrs. Jack' confirms that MJ bleached his skin to get it over with
  • Janet brought an intervention specialist to MJ's intervention in 2002
  • Katherine received money from MJ & Janet

Randall 'Randy' Jackson Testimony on Friday:

  • *Randy didn't want to testify and didn't but his video deposition was aired*
  • Randy revealed his family wanted to intervene on more than 8 occasions. One in NY... One in LV.. And a lot in his Neverland home.. One was in Taiwan
  • Randy started to observe MJ... Writing letters to all his family members.
  • Janet, Rebbie, & Joe were supportive of these interventions with Randy
  • Randy thought Grace was supplying MJ with drugs
  • People magazine published an article on MJ's drug problem. MJ got people in his family to sign a letter stating that MJ never used drugs. --- Randy found it disgusting - Janet, Randy, & Rebbie (and joe) didn't sign the letter

That's how he dealt the vitiligo. His attempt to make his skin one uniform color. You didn't finish it.

AEG claim Randy didn't want to testify. The Jacksons lawyers and Randy state otherwise.

That kinda goes without saying

What did they say?

Well, for most they see "bleach his skin" and assume.... especially since an overwhelming majority still think he never actually had vitiligo.

I don't know the specifics, but I believe AEG lawyers told the judge Randy was refusing to testify, which is the reason deposition was played. The Jacksons lawyers say otherwise and so does Randy via his Twitter account.

Obviously, the defense wanted his testimony via the deposition played before the jury, without the opportunity for the Jacksons lawyers to cross examine him. I suppose the Jacksons lawyers can call him to testify in person via the rebuttal.

Well.. I'm sorry if a large majority doesn't believe his autopsy report.. But it's clear to me and everyone who is logical that he bleached his skin bc of his skin disease

Yeah the Jackson lawyer can but it'll be hard since Randy basically knew of MJ's drug problem

Most aren't aware or have heard "he bleached his skin" in the media for so long they believe it.

I don't think they'll call him. Many (within the MJ fan community) believe Randy damaged the case. Perhaps so, but from what I've seen, it's been pretty much established that Michael had an on/off again battle with prescription drugs. Confirmation of it, and that the family tried to intervene, doesn't add much to what we already know.

I don't cater to the ignorant.

Damaged the case depending on who side one's on. Putting him on the hot seat would kill Katherine's case... Clearly MJ created his own demise but of course I'll let the jury decide

I didn't say the Jacksons would win the case. lol There is a strong possibility the jury will side with AEG. I just don't think what he revealed was anything that wasn't already known to the jury at this point, so I don't see the "damage" in that respect.

True.

I think the jury may find AEG at least partially responsible. The way the contracts were set up, AEG held the right to fire Murray without Michael's consent. Which is the basis of the whole case, there were numerous signs and concerns before June 25th and they did nothing in terms of intervening.

Instead of contracting Murray they should have given the money directly to Michael as an advance and let him pay the doctor. They kind put themselves in harms way (in terms of lawsuits) by handling it that way.

This is the most drawn out trial ever. If I was a juror, I'd be peeved to have to take out this much time out of my life. How much is Katherine suing for? I heard water cooler talk that the attorney was going to try to ask for a billion. :asham:

I hope they milk AEG for everything for all the price gauging they do with ticket prices, and with LA Live.. :shifty:

It has to be information overload for the jury at this point. lol

I believe they are going to ask for well over a billion.
