Janet and crew behind the scenes while in Hawaii
Kaleidoscope Eyes replied to Bailey's topic in All About Janet
Agreed. Thing is, you don't see other minority groups/foreigners employing black Americans but we are quick to give them jobs, our culture etc. but will overlook each other. Okay maybe this isn't the thread for this discussion lol -

Without jealousy, abuse, or haaaate (AND ALL JUST LIVING OFF LOVE!) &&& I'm never givin' up, because I wanna master love (cause the world is just so beautiful) I just wanna see it come to LIFE!!!

Both kind of have similar themes & showcase Janet's lovely vocals. But I'ma go w/ "Enjoy" on this one. I still remember back on the old board when it first leaked and everyone was in love w/ it. Almost makes the whole 20YO era worthwhile.

I'm fine w/ it I'm just enjoying the album. I rode for Janet all throughout the Damita Jo era to Discipline....never turned my back on her when so many fans were jumping ship left and right. So it feels even more satisfying for me now that she's receiving all this acclaim and success w/ Unbreakable. I always knew she would be back on top and fabulous.

The Great Forever - with an almost Bjork-like synth line and deep, almost Michael sounding vocals, the verses address many things from her finding happiness (while being jealous of others) to others being jealous of the happiness she finds. The end of Dammn Baby pretty much cuts straight into this, with a voiceover of the outro saying 'I didn't think my happiness could make you so sad'. There's also a line in the pre-chorus that is very gay friendly. What you think it don't mean nothing at all, It doesn't change who I am, doesn't change who I love. That then launches into the chorus you've all heard. The bridge slows it right down with rippling water effects and a classic Janet moment where she leaves in an error from the recording session. She addresses the way press turn relationships into news headlines in this part.Shoulda Known Better - I hate to say it because it'll be taken the wrong way, but it's very Rebel Heart in it's themes, with an explosive chorus talking about a revolution. The chorus reminds me of something, it's very uplifting and anthemic and sounds like it should lead into an EDM drop, but it goes straight back into very chilled out verses with stripped back synth productions. Just can't feel casual about casualties, no, I guess I shoulda known better. The chorus is actually very organic really, because while it sounds like an EDM chorus almost, it also has organic live drums and a guitar backing (though we're not talking Trust A Try, it's quite subtle and uplifting really). The song ends with a beautiful soft sung outro accompanied by a heaven-sent piano tinkling in the background as Janet announces: I had this great epiphany, and Rhythm Nation was the dream, I guess I shoulda known better. And at that precise moment, I fell in love with this album. After You Fall - to be perfectly honest, I don't have a lot to say about this that can't be heard from the live performance recordings. It's a touching ballad and she sounds pretty broken on it, but it's rather simple. Halfway through subtle, chilled out background strings join with Janet's voice, and she also lets out a big sigh during the instrumental break - which includes sounds that almost sound like wind chimes - just before the bridge. She sounds gorgeous, it's just, and dare I say it, a bit boring. I mean, even she herself sounds like she might yawn in the final chorus.Night - Picture Rock With U done a bit better, with disco production that almost sounds like Kylie. The bassline almost growls throughout the verse while the light percussion litters the composition accompanying Janet's mature voice. It's very laidback but it's absolutely gorgeous and it's definitely a song that was a) put on for us, 'the kids' and b) inspired by Whitney. I woke up in heaven in the morning, With a big smile upon my face. The synths are almost Bjorkian on this too, thinking on it. Very Bedtime Story by Madonna (written by Bjork). It's a great, chilled out song. If No Sleeep was the slow jam for the straights, this is the slow jam for the gays. The disco breakdown towards the end is tame but very Moroder all at once, with strumming bass and tinkling piano keys. The song ends with a rainstorm beginning and leads seamlessly into No Sleeep.Honestly I've described Gon' B Alright already and if I do it again I'll just trash it further.

Burn it up just sent out on Apple music!

Missy sounds stupid, dated and corny as I thought....I wish it were just Janet on the track because she's not needed. Minus the "meow meow, ooh chile!!" bullshit I love the track. -
