  1. I like the production but not the lyrics and vocal arrangement. When she sings "Sexlines and videos" it sounds like White Lines by Grandmaster Flash!
  2. Europop not at all......the beat and background reminds me of Barbara Mason's "Another Man". Not the lyrics obviously but the beat. "Night" is dope!!!!!! I'm so thrilled that Janet has cut a song like this!!!!! Can't wait to hear it!!!!!! You have to remember that Europop is totally throwing it back to 80's house with a pop twist but I don't get that at all.
  3. "Night" is giving me some 80's underground house disco around the way kinda girl New York vibe. It's screaming something you would hear playing in the movie "Paris Is Burning" by the pier where all the children would gather late at night.
  4. We have discussed the sound of Shoulda Known Better and Janet has touched on themes of revolution way before Madonna has so not sure why you had to throw that in there. Remember Rhythm Nation, The Knowledge, State of The World, New Agenda? The song as far as it's delivery is more reminiscent of a U2 song mixed with a light EDM in the chorus. Can't wait for this song to be released along with a video. The first time I heard this song without knowing all the lyrics I quickly fell in love with it. I truly hope Janet pushes this song if just for the mere importance of it and how much her fans are loving this cut. This is truly one of Janet's most vulnerable songs as far as commenting on her own efforts as a musician and the message she was trying to give during R.N. as she confesses "I had this great epiphany, a Rhythm Nation was the dream. I guess I shoulda have known better." That part just kills me.
  5. It's interesting that you say that cause it does have an 80's throwback with the Vanity 6 sample and it's not pure hip hop either. It's very Euro which explains why Janet is going to give it a huge push in the U.K. An acquired taste usually means you will come to like it when you open up yourself to different sounds and experiences.
  6. I mean! The beginning and the ending are off the charts and as a whole the song is pure beat. Amazing production. Love Janet's delivery. Come on Chinstrap! I'm gonna need one while dancing to this song! Don't want my head falling off rolling off the dance floor.
  7. Obviously Janet is not pressed and there could have been a clause if there was even a contract that Janet would be able to pull out of the show if it conflicted with her tour schedule. Enough said. Let it go. The show happened already and no one is hurt but the ones who are upset that they won't be seeing her on the show when it is televised.
  8. We going to dance like nobody's watching! Aint nobody sitting down we gotta keep it up!
  9. I love her cursive writing! It's a lost art form. I'm so glad I know how to cursive write. I don't think they teach it in schools anymore. So sad....nobody writes letters anymore. I remember during my college years my best friend/first love would write each other letters and post cards during the whole 4 years. We would see each other at least once a year of course as I lived in L.A. and was attending UCLA and she was in Eugene, Oregon attending The University of Oregon. I usually would make the road trip up to Eugene. But thank God for those letters....we would have lost touch with each other possibly. I would get so excited when I would find a letter in my personal box at Sproul Hall...5th Floor!!!!! Cursive writing needs to be taught as well as the art of writing in schools again. These kids expect their phones and computers to do everything for them. These kids are going to become void of emotion as if they aren't already! Our children! Living in a world they didn't makeLiving in a world that's filled with hateLiving in a world where grown-ups break the rulesLiving in a world they didn't makePaying for a lot of adult mistakesHow much of this madness can they takeOur children Cause they're living in a spaceThey feel out of place
  10. What the hell is she saying? "Me and Missy got the whole".....the next 2 words I can't make out except for the last word "off". Let's call this Jackonese writing. She's fluent in it we know already and she sings so beautifully in Jackonese but now the handwriting. Oh lawd.
  11. On a side note.....after this tour I would like Janet to do a ballads/non singles tour at historical small venues and wearing a couple of beautiful gowns. Songs like Empty, My Need, Lonely, 24 Play, When We Oooh, Take Care, Better Days, What Can I Say, Someday is Tonight, Making Love In The Rain, I Get Lonely, Where Are You Now, Trust A Try, Funny How Time Flies....you get the point. This will be the time Janet can switch things up in a major way and become the songstress instead of being cast and put in a box as the Pop Queen her fans want her to remain in for so long. Janet can enter a new chapter in her life focusing on different music and movies. You know miss thing is going to take a long ass break after the tour is over but with her new focus you never know....especially if she goes into entirely new direction with the type of music she wants to perform. Janet loves her some Joni Mitchell and 70's inspired music and has a very eclectic taste in music. Would love to see more of that in the future.
  12. Empty.....can you just imagine the choreography and production you can do with this song. "Fiyah, fiyah!" "Fiyah, fiyah!" This song would have had the makings of becoming one of her best videos as well! "Damn, disconnected!"
  13. Seriously who cares about IHeart Radio....it's just not part of what this project is about. And Page Six has been over for years. Janet didn't need to do the show for the children. She's getting paid to perform by her fans.
  14. You have to remember that before the internet when Janet was gone in between albums which sometimes would last anywhere between 2-3 years people didn't say she was missing or disappeared. It's just a new age when people are so quick to yell bloody murder for anything. I remember back then we would have to rely on magazines to see a picture of Janet and her whereabouts between albums and that alone would make us go apeshit with excitement. The internet has ruined the simplest of pleasures I swear! Everything is about instant gratification. Calm down.
  15. Whenever he would say "Janhova" I would bust out laughing!
  16. Someone on YouTube said Janet performed "Lonely" on the R.N. tour.....I was about to go in and say "boy you are wrong". But I'm just going to let him believe he heard Janet sing this live. This song kills......it's her best in my book. Don't know why this wasn't a single or why she never did perform it live. I mean they released 7 songs off the album...Janet was able to get away with anything at that time. They played "State Of The World" on the radio and it hit number 5 alone on the Airplay charts......would it have killed them to release this song or make a video for it! I remember they would play this song on The Quiet Storm as well as on the Art Laboe show even though it wasn't an oldie. People knew what was up when it came to the entire R.N. album. They would also play The Knowledge on the radio for God's sake. No one will ever repeat the reception this album got from 89-91! It was a phenom! Janet could have released "Living In A World They Didn't Make" and she would have got away with it. It bordered cheese but it was a good brie and the video could have been epic. The Storm also played "Someday Is Tonight".....damn damn damn. What an era!
  17. Yes "Lonely".....my all time favorite Janet ballad. The fact that Lonely made the list along with "Empty" and "My Need" is everything!
  18. Maybe they were hoping to televise a set from wherever they thought Janet would be performing that night but Janet never said she would be performing at the event. It would have been nice of course but it wasn't feasible to make happen once she released her full tour dates. Someone jumped the gun.
  19. Yeah I almost liked it when I saw it performed on SNL....but the styling was all wrong on Janet. A feather boa can do what a feather boa can't do. It wasn't enough. The pants were just wrong. They were like suit pants. I couldn't get over it.
  20. In agreement with mostly everyone but I hated "Strawberry Bounce".
