  1. I'm just watching them.....bored as hell. I don't even get Beyonce's set. I guess I'm not into Beyonce's music....it doesn't excite me and all she is visuals now and not the best at times. She's not authentic and that rant with the fur coat? WTF? NO ONE HAS ENTERTAINED ME YET.
  2. I love everything about it! The lyrics, the different styles, Janet's vocals and Janet back to giving us some truth.
  3. I was wondering if this had been posted already. I've been seeing the trailers for the past 2 weeks and it's all "Miss You Much"......love it!
  4. As far as Janet is concerned "What others think of her isn't any of her business!" Get over it. There's so much more to life than stanning for your favorite artist. I appreciate Janet for what she has given me....Music! Anything else is a bonus.
  5. Yeah it's photo shoot she was featured on as their cover subject and it doesn't necessarily merit a nomination and I'm sure these other nominees are much more involved with the UAE that deserve recognition. Janet is barely getting her feet wet with the UAE and has always been concentrating more on her efforts with Unicef and amFAR.
  6. Why would Janet be nominated for this to begin with?
  7. Great production but I kid you not the vocals and the sound were awful and most of the show from I what I saw was being performed by her amazing dancers. Sometimes I couldn't find Madonna on the stage and most of the show were video montages with elaborate stage design. Her energy was very lackluster. I came to see Madonna perform not her dancers. The only highlight for me was when she sang "Burning Up".
  8. Her best show in my opinion after The Blonde Ambition Tour. I've only seen her 3 times and the last and very last time was in 2006 at Madison Square Garden. I was so bored and the sound was just so awful that I walked out of it half way through the show.
  9. It was actually 5 songs. Human Nature/Secret/Don't Cry For Me Argentina/La Isla Bonita/Holiday I saw the very last show of The Drowned World Tour....I was suppose to see it on 9/11/01 but it was cancelled obviously and she rescheduled it to 9/15/01.
  10. Maybe her best vocals for Paula but that song hurt my ears!
  11. Again I don't see the fuss over this "Icon" award. It's all politics. And actually AT THAT TIME, MTV would have given it to Janet over Michael and Madonna and especially over Prince. An Icon award from MTV reflected the artists contributions to the channel and it's ratings. Janet had given MTV complete coverage of all her tours, complete access with a lot of specials. Janet and MTV were in bed together pretty much from 1989 through 2004. Again these are the politics that made sense for MTV to give Janet the ICON award first. To be honest I think it was Janet's camp that approached MTV to create this award for Janet. Michael, Madonna, and Prince during this time pre 2001 were riddled with controversy and Janet had her reputation in tact still and was untouchable as far as MTV was concerned. Madonna was slowly getting her reputation back with the release of "Ray Of Light" in 1998. Madonna hadn't released an album prior to this since 1994 with Bedtime Stories and "Ray Of Light" garnered Madonna's first critical acclaim ever and it was her highest debut for an album ever as well entering at number 5 peaking at number 2. Considering this was Madonna's 7th album it's hard to believe that up until this point Madonna had never had an album debut at 1. I can see if there was any merit to this ICON award Janet would be the fist to receive it during 2001. Now putting MTV aside with their politics, yes I agree, Janet would be 3rd in line after Michael and Madonna to receive this title of "ICON".
  12. I can see Madonna passing on the Icon Award now whether it was offered to her first I don't know but fact remains that Janet received the Vangaurd Award first which was way more prestigious. The ICON award was really about publicity plain and simple so I really don't see the fuss over this award. Madonna was really upset with MTV during their love for Janet during the monster vehicle that is R.N. which eventually led to her receiving the Vangaurd Award among numerous awards than any other artist at that time for 1 album.
  13. It should just be called the Video Vanguard award. Plain and simple. Madonna's videos didn't start legendary until the album for Like A Prayer came out. Prior to that her videos were cute and spoke to the teen boppers only. Anyone else like Rihanna who is receiving it and Beyonce who has it already is simply getting the award to keep the MTV Video Vanguard going. I would give to Gaga next for sure! Not sure if Madonna got one so it shouldn't be named after her....I think they wanted to give her one but she was so sour over Janet receiving it before her at the tender age of 24, just as sour when she presented it to George Michael. I'm sure they wanted to give her one but she declined it and didn't want anything to do with it. During "Ray Of Light" would have been the perfect time to give Madonna one.
  14. I really don't get the Britney praise....to me she's all gimmick. There's never been any substance with her musically or inspirationally. Britney to me is simply a go to for the "girls" looking for any reason to loose their shit over. Britney is a doll pretty much. I would say: 1) Beyonce/Gaga (though I prefer Gaga only because she truly evolved in such a little time and her videos are more than a visual, they are stories that take you through a journey and I respect her talent so much! Beyonce is highly over produced. 2) Britney for miss congeniality (though not my cup tea) 3) Rihanna cause she's a bad ass.
  15. I listen to that song at least twice a month!
  16. Damn I'm back to The Great Forever....I just love her vocal so much in this song and the ending harmonies are just out of this world with the "oooh's". The production is stellar! I really wanted a video for this. "Trying to get the great forever!" "Whaa!" "Hey"
  17. So great to see this again. Y'all I was not ready for this when it came out....I remember watching it when it premiered and so excited to see Janet give us "Miss You Much"cause we hadn't seen the ending to the chair routine yet but little did we know what was coming when the "The Knowledge" came on! I was speechless. It was like watching someone breakdance for the first time! I remember my friend and were watching it and just making sounds when she would hit certain parts of the choreography and say things like "Damn...."....."Did you see that?" Janet snatched the whole world's wig off including Michael and Madonna's and truly became legend with the release of this film. You can see see the set up and inspiration that came years after still to this day from white and black artists. ICONIC! LEGEND!
  18. You didn't know what a "rim" job was? To be fair maybe it's a term used more by gay guys but then again I never really liked the term "tossing my salad"....that just sounds dirty and not in a good way.
