bu.
The new season of “American Idol” has yet to begin, and already new judge Nicki Minaj is locked in a twitter tussle with former judge Steven Tyler. In a recent interview with MTV News, Tyler slammed Minaj’s judging skills. “If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying,” Tyler said. In the wake of the Aerosmith frontman’s comments, Minaj responded on Twitter. “Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!” Minaj tweeted a few minutes ago. “I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven’t done anything to you. That’s a racist comment,” she said in a follow-up comment. She later added “You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f— yourself and worry about yourself babe.” A spokesperson for Tyler didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Nicki Minaj @NICKIMINAJ Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven't seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet! Nicki Minaj @NICKIMINAJ LOL lets make him a shirt that says "No Coloreds Allowed" then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns Nicki Minaj @NICKIMINAJ When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. TwistedElegance™
I love Steven, but she has a point. Although as usual she did too much expressing it.
bu.
How is it racist though? He didn't say anything that's remotely such . Unless I missed something :S

The nerve of her to take a dig at Mariah

jarrylf
.................WHY WON'T SHE LET ME LIKE HER!!!! I mean respect her, I could never, but she keeps trashing legends when shes on her 14th minute. Oh I can't wait for her to be a bad memory of the past. But when I finally start to somewhat like her.... ugh
Paul
I think she's right. He was out of line for his comments. These celebs need to stay away from twitter - just makes them all look retarded.

I gotta say Paul Im suprised, you don't usually side with those who use the race card for anything wrong
Paul
I gotta say Paul Im suprised, you don't usually side with those who use the race card for anything wrong It seems off that he would mention a cornfield in his comments. I'm not saying he was racist; just that he shouldn't be using twitter to attack nikki. I don't like her anyway - just looking at it objectively. Yea I guess it's 1 of those things where I REALLLLY don't think he meant anything racial by it, but it can be taken that way, but at the same time I have prejudice about Nicki and the race card since her stupid comments about Barbra Waters being racist towards her about the Mariah thing when not only was that not true but the very next day (after the blow up) when Barbra was talking about it on The View and how she & Mariah talked she said something along the lines of "I would love to hear Nicki's side, I know there's 2 sides to every story". Ugh, Nicki just lost so much from me in 2012....wasnt much to begin with She & Chris belong together.....in every way
Paul
I miss the days when celebrities actually had some class and a sense of public decorum ......come back soon Janet
bu.
The thing with Nicki is - when she's really calm she can be really great to watch and I like her like that (e.g. her abc interview last week). But when she goes off - she looks stupid.

Rock & Roll Hall of Game
Paul had a point... Tyler was out of line but Nicki went too far... she just should have said "When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge." and let it be that
EphraimAdamz
I hate Twitter but a lot of people feed off that shit... so oh well. Whatever keeps them in the "spotlight" I guess
Aquaria
I know Steven has an oversized mouth but he needa keep it shut with that kinda nonsense. Nicki from what I've seen so far seems like she'll make a good judge. Is she any less qualified than Ellen degeneres to judge a singing competition? She's got a viable pop rap career and her opinions on other performers and vocalists should definitely prove to be valid.

These celebs need to stay away from twitter - just makes them all look retarded. I think it makes them look human. We all have comments like that on our Twitter, so for celebs to singled out over it is hypocritical

We all have comments like that on our Twitter, so for celebs to singled out over it is hypocritical Not everyone does (as 1 who doesn't). Celebs are in the industry & position to be singled out in any & every way, it's gonna happen, it's their career, they're public figures, their every move is being watched and influencing people who like them. jarrylf
I honestly would've been with her if she kept it at he was mad because he was fired (because that was spilling tea and not necessarily disrespectful) but she lost me at racist personally. Like I said I can see how someone could get racist from that but it's a reach.
Escapade
Bob Dylan is from the MidWest. That's where the cornfield comment comes from. The bitch is annoying. He was not being racist at all

He was not being racist at all No.. If he said "cotton fields" or "watermelon patch" or "KFC" then I would consider that to be semi-racists... But cornfield? That's only offends the crows
