  1. I hate to say it but I prefer the GePEDO’s version!!! Just so smooth ands something the original doesn’t have. LOVE the original but the Kelly remix is magic!!!
  2. ........so this isn’t the title of the new album?!?
  3. On a serious note! I was gonna make a new thread out of this topic but decided to just talk about it here! I was just thinking about early news surrounding Janet’s upcoming album last year. The Bruno Mars collaboration was a definite but I also remember articles talking about another collab with an artist arguably bigger than Rihanna (or was it Gaga?!? I can’t remember!) But I was thinking what if that mysterious BIG artist was none other than.... Now bare with me!!! I know Cardi is a bit overexposed at the moment but it makes SOOOOO much sense!!! Chick is EVERYWHERE and considered a bonafide hit maker by how many collaborations she’s done from Bruno to J. Lo in the past two years!!! Face it!!! She’s THAT huge now! I honestly could see this happening but I know you guys are probably like “Janet doesn’t need Cardi”, “Janet doesn’t hop on trends anymore!” and “Leave that former stripper off Janet’s Legacy!” I’m just saying! What do u guys think???
  4. Hmmmm this thread has given me an idea to do a musical anthology book of Janet’s career one day. Each chapter being an extensive look into the themes, concepts and creative process behind each album until her final one one day! Aka a Janet Jackson bible for all die hard fans!!! ✌
  5. Mmmm splitting hairs! The overarching theme of “All For You” is more joyful and the freedom that comes from being single. Sure there are songs like ....sigh...”Truth” with her lamenting her marriage with Rene as well as considering straight up revenge ala “Son of A Gun”, it’s overall light-hearted nature and tone makes it more optimistic than how you’re describing it.
  6. What does Janet Jackson mean to me??? She is a leading visionary of the music video era, a musical icon who has forever pushed lyrical boundaries with revolutionary productions, concepts and themes and easily one of the most electrifying female performers of ALL. TIME!!! I’m making this thread in response to some shocking new developments within the fandom that I’ve learned. Apparently, there are Janet fans who don’t really care if Janet has nothing to say for an album as long as she has a few bops on there....that’s where I say....STOP!!! Just look at Janet’s discography alone and you can see why her music had stood the test of time like her contemporaries! Micheal pushed boundaries musically and visually FIRST, making him the pioneer of music videos and modern day pop music, Whitney had a timeless and one of the most powerful pop voices of all time, Madonna pushed the envelop in terms of sex, politics, violence, etc. for controversies and keep people talking! But Janet? She’s stood the test of time because she was one of the artist to treat her albums as not just art but conceptual projects that would define how the modern female pop star would be presented. Just look at “Rated R” and most recently, Beyonce’s “Lemonade” which are considered their respective artists’ “Velvet Rope” moment. The red hair, piercings, dark subject matter and bleak musical tone empathize the impact of that alone n era of her career alone! That’s why it’s so important that Janet, with each album, NEEDS to mean something or be inspired by where she is in her life or the results would be...frantically dire! She’s been doing it since “Control” and that’s why her lengendart career has lasted so long because when Janet releases an album; it comes with not only thought provoking lyrics of where she is at the time but visually, she has no choice but to reinvent herself to accurately represent her state of mind at the time. Meaning her personal and political lyrics are just as essential as her iconic choreography and impeccable execution of her dance moves! To say you just want an album of bops and nothing more means you want a Janet album just as soulless and meaningless as her pre-“Control” work or her “DJ”-“Discipline” slump of her career. See for yourself thematically what each of her albums were about: Janet Jackson and Dreamstreet: Cause Daddy Said so! Control: Independence Rhythm Nation: Social Issues janet.: Feminity/Sexuality/Love The Velvet Rope: Depression/Introspection All For You: The joys of Singlehood Damita Jo: The multiple personalities within Janet....or so she says.... 20 Y.O.: Celebrating 20 Years of Success/Jermaine’s Gonna Give me a hit! Discipline: Her focus and concentration in every aspect of her life from her career to love....but nothing was written by her at All!!! Unbreakable: Maturity and retrospection as well as the ties that make us stronger. The deeper and more meaningful the album, the better effort we get from Janet completely as an artist, performer and groundbreaker! Nothing interesting and really amazing came from albums like “DJ”-“Discipline” besides a few exceptions like the Rock Wit U Video/choreography, All Nite’s Video/choreography, etc. Don’t fool yourselves into feeding into Janet’s uninspired tenure, when deep down you know you want the full Janet package: stunning lyrics, awesome dance moves, wonderful videos and glorious visuals for years to come. If this upcoming album continues where “Unbreakable” left off and is a genuine reinvention of this Pop Queen, I’m sure most, of not all, will be impressed no matter what, cause she’s back to consistently doing Janetat her best! ✌
  7. Ok....time for me to put in my two cents again! Sigh! I agree, Darkchild isn’t the most modern producer to work with but how bout we trust in Janet like we usually do?! I mean, you’re acting like he produced the WHOLE album when it sounds more like one or two songs at best. The thing with Janet and what I absolutely LOVED about “Unbreakable” is it was just contemporary enough to be trendy but old school enough to feel authentically like Janet. It was mature, fresh and fantastical with a splash of laid back charm and explosive lyricism. If Album #12 follows suit, I’m all for it!!! Yes, Janet’s usually at her best with Jimmy and Terry but that’s because she’s good when she’s ready AND inspired to write music!!! Did ya’ll forget about “Damita Jo”!?! Despite the ill conceived fan acclaim that album gets, it is trash NOT because of Jimmy and Terry, but because Janet wasn’t THERE to record it. The producers are only as good as the artist’s creativity and ambition. The three are at their best when they are ALL inspired and motivated to push musically forward. Hence, “Damita Jo” is completely of its time but a soulless retread of what Janet has done before....and honestly MUCH better. “20 Y.O.” and “Discipline” followed suit with more modern productions but once again, the music fell short because Janet wasn’t PRESENT or in her ELEMENT!!! The fact is, Janet could work with her signature duo or the most modern producers of the time but if this legend is not inspired to write, then the music will always and I MEAN always be underwhelming! My point is!!! It doesn’t matter who she worked with on this upcoming album because either she has something to say or not!!! If she does, we’ll get yet another classic in an overall flawed but impressive discography, if not, then we’ll get “Damita Momma”! End of discussion!!! Jesus!!!
  8. What’s with the whole “Vegas residency” movement wit u Janet fans?! Are you guys really scared of a b!tch cancelling a tour you want her just to perform in one place for the rest of her career?!? Vegas Residencies are ONLY reserved for veteran vocalists and former teen popstars like Stiffney Spears!!!
  9. Honestly, I don’t get the “Caution”/“Unbreakable” comparisons!!! Ya’ll are trying it sooooo hard!!! First off, musically, “Unbreakable” is Janet at her absolute best!!! That’s why it was almost unanimously regarded as “a long awaited return to form” and “easily one of her best since TVR!” Not to mention, the album was on numerous “Best of 2015” Album’s lists!!! Also, Janet poured her heart and soul into the record like she use to do during her impeccable run from “Control”-“The Velvet Rope”! Lets Be Real! Mariah is a legend in her own right too but that’s more because of her immaculate (used to ) vocals and staying power in the business by being such a powerhouse on the charts in the 90s til’ now. Musically, Janet has always been the better artist lyrically and production wise as “Control” alone was the precursor to the “New Jack Swing” movement in the late 80s/early 90s. Mariah’s music was never groundbreaking in the least, but her unique and powerful voice (at the time! ) Made those songs greater than what they were. Janet’s music kind of always had to be grander in production and scope do to her limited voice and dance skills. Also, Janet’s music at its core has always been deeper, with more depth and complexity to it....before the 2000s of course. Yes, “Caution” is a return to form after the trying too hard mess of “Moo. I Am A Cow.” I’m sorry but even at her best, “Caution” is a great album with lush and polished productions....but “Unbreakable” is timeless!!! LIKE all of Janet’s classic albums in terms of lyrics, concepts and themes. “Butterfly” comes close, but Janet’s in her own league!
  10. Dear GAWD!!! The times I’ve watched this over n over again is INSANE!!! What the hell was this chick on opening her concert with that much SLAYAGE!!!!
  11. Just got this link from Janet.club and apparently Cimo Frankel, a collaborator of Jerkins, just said they just finished working on Janet’s new album!!! Now apparently the host confirms this during the interview and reliable sources link Frankel to Janet’s team most recently. But the question is...how do you guys feel about this???
