Honestly, it'll look bad if it comes off like she's only doing it to pay bills. I think it can be a game changer if she's trying make a statement. I rather her not do it if she really doesn't want to.

While I think she was in contention for AOTY and I was somewhat surprised that she didn't get it, the hive seem to have the biggest sense of entitlement I have seen. They think because Beyonce is ad big ad she is, the industry has to worship the ground she walks on. Now it's saying that it doesn't necessarily have to and the rug is pulled from under the Hive's feet. I don't agree or disagree that she was snubbed. If she was snubbed, it was mostly because she campaigned for the award harder than the others. Outside of that, I don't think that the album was significantly better than any of the other nominees. There were many people that like 25 better than Lemonade. Also a Grammy is a Grammy is a Grammy. Her not having the AOTY will not be some red flag to her legacy, but those 22 will be seen as a highlight. No matter how big you are, not everything is gonna fall on your lap, and it's not the end of the world.

This ceremony has shown that as much as Beyonce is well admired and has a big machine of fans and critics behind her, she too has to deal with a glass ceiling. It makes me curious to see where she will go on from here.

Basically. The problem isn't that we can't stand Beyonce's success, but it's often used by the media and general public to erase Janet's. A lot of the comments go like "Well Beyonce is doing all these things, therefore we don't really need to know about Janet's impact." It's not Beyonce's fault, but that's where a lot of the hostility come from.

I understand how you feel, but why can't we be satisfied with what Janet has given us and allow Beyonce to pave her own road?

Honestly, if you go outside of this forum, we (the members of the forum) are far from the only people skeptical about the announcement. I just find it fallacious to try to stick the skepticism and resentment only on us. It's probably not fair to Beyonce, but people will always have something salty to about her and her success. That's just a cost of being as big as she is. Just be secure to know she will go down as a bona fide legend with many young women trying to follow her blueprint.

I think Janet was disillusioned with the industry a long time ago. When she married Wissam, she was finally given the freedom to let go, even though she had fans wanting more from her.

I completely understand. I seems like Janet should be the reason we're in this community, there seems to be more division on the front. I guess as fans we're not at the same place she is.
