  1. Game. As a lawyer with a criminal law background, I know the difference between an indictment and a trial. Furthermore, there was no grand jury in the Zimmerman case. The prosecuting attorney in charge stated that she did not need a grand jury to do her job for her and filed the charges herself. When I said it's the same thing, I mean that our societal laws, such as Stand Your Ground, which many states allow, and the application of the law or lack of such application to overzealous cops whose hasty killings are rationalized only merely by a racial motives, are not designed to protect the poor or minority. While our legal system is one of the best in the world, it does not mean that it isn't flawed. The President, also a lawyer, stated such in his remarks addressing the Ferguson outcome. Maybe this is what you mean by you stand by the President because in a world where there is still countries killing its own citizens, it is not merely enough to gloat about having "one of the best" legal systems in the world. In fact, it was President Lyndon B Johnson who said it was a joke for the United States to think of themselves as this Great Society when we treated our own citizens as second-rate individuals based on the color of the race. I don't give a good got damn about what kind of post-racial United States you want to pretend to live in, the fact of the matter is that African-Americans are still getting disproportionally sentenced for crimes, violence against innocent African-Americans is still disproportionally going unpunished, and we have not made much progress on the justice front since the 1980s. In fact, due to get tough crime stances popularized by politicians to get elected, we have actually regressed and continue to do so. Furthermore the fact that you seemingly just shrugged your shoulders at the fact that "Republicans" -- (more like the Supreme Court)-- made it harder for poor minorities in the rural south to vote is troubling. However, this is sadly understandable because in our "America, the perfect" story the narrative that we are still treating certain citizens as second rate (largely the poor, minorities, gays, women, and others we deem undesirable) doesn't quite fit in the image we like to portray.
  2. No, it was the Prosecutor's decision to not want to indict him which guided the grand jury to not indict him. If the prosecution wanted an indictment. They would've gotten one. Point blank and simple. Then for the president to come on national television and say let's try to move on and to trust a legal system that by its design was not created to protect the poor or minority, is just crazy. This didn't/doesn't just happen in Ferguson. Similar thing happened in SC just this week also. It happened in Trayvon Martin case. Bernhard Goetz. Rodney King. The list goes on.. and on.. and on.. and on.
  3. This whole thing slayed. And I'm not the biggest Knowles clan fan but, slay, slay, slay. Janelle Monae, slay.
  4. In the club last night they play'd Feedback real slick like. I got life for everybody in attendance.
  5. Doesn't mean that he sleeps around on her.. But any who; I think the outburst was not about him but was in defense of K like I stated previously. She wore the brunt of the harassment by people on the show saying that she might be staying because it's beneficial to her and her friends.
  6. Every week. But I grasped your point. Bitch your Janet speculation is unparalleled.
  7. Nice. I googled her and she seemed to have taken a lot of make-up artist of color under her wing to mentor.
  8. For the first time ever there will be two elected African-American senators serving simultaneously. Congratulations to Tim Scott of South Carolina!
  9. I mean I'm not well versed on who Chris is fucking like you seem to be and I never heard about him fucking Karrueche's best friend and going public with it but from recent interviews I saw with him he said that him and Rihanna have now evolved their relationship to a friendship and that he has no romantic interest in her anymore. It's like wow, was he honest when he said he was in love with the both of them at one time -- yes. But how is that playing Karrueche? She was aware of the situation. I'm sure it hurt. But it wasn't really playing. This is a young guy who had his first very serious relationship fizzle in the blink of an eye with no opportunity for closure. I'd probably still be in love with my ex too. He said that his feelings for Rihanna post incident was him wanting to show her that he was good guy. I don't think that's playing or dissing anyone. He's not like fuck her. He said damn I'm in love with two incredible women and I don't know who to choose. He could be doing like a lot of these other celebrities and some of you all boos and secretly hitting chicks/guys on the side.
  10. Broke doesn't just mean finances. But also just because they are on tv doesn't mean they have money.
  11. I don't think Chris wants anyone to feel sorry for him. I think what he was doing was defending his girl against "broke bitches" because we Team Don't Fuck With Broke Bitches over here. Now catch that shade. Further, it has long been rumored that Tamar was with Vince to advance her career and life and long rumored that Cheetah Girl is a well known industry bop. The number one rule to shade is: don't throw shade if you afraid to catch it.
  12. I can't wait for it to be over. I'm tired of reading so many republicans are taking over.. we are doomed articles.
  13. The broke Beyonce stans going to be begging everybody for a little coin to get this box.
  14. First of all, as someone who currently spends a lot of time in NYC, strangers talk to you often -- most of the time it's to ask for money or something. Just today someone asked me, "How are you doing today, Mister." That's not a cat call. Comments like Damn Mami and the such are cat calling and inappropriate. However, I think of instances where I see someone who looks good and I think that same thought "damn they look good or whatever" in my head. Am I the only one who does that? Also if you have a logo on your butt, I'm probably going to look even if I'm not attracted to you because you have something painted on your ass! But I guess I'm the only one and maybe I'm guilty of internally cat calling any fine person I see on the street.
  15. I love her. Not musically, but her.
