J.
Not really. Production companies finance the project. Executive producers oversee the project or just add their name to it to help promote like Tyler Perry/Oprah did with Precious despite the fact that they didn't have any input. How To Get Away With Murder is seen as Shonda's baby because she's the executive producer but Peter Nowalk does all the work. TLC produced their VH1 documentary but we know they didn't give no money - VH1/POP Films aka the production company did. It really depends on the individual. I looked it up and that definitely is one of their roles
FreelovesJJ
If this was able to be done on HBO it would have been able to have more depth to it and rawness. Lifetime couldn't do a biopic on Lifetime itself and it be good.

J.
She may or may not be, but that's definitely A role of an executive producer, so don't jump down people's throats saying it's not
feehgarcia
OMG yaaaaaas! *-*But I'll only believe and get excited about it once the first TV spot or trailer drops.P/S: Why the media insert doesn't work for me?! --' Edited April 21, 2016 by feehgarcia
Rock & Roll Hall of Game
I looked it up and that definitely is one of their rolesNot sure what you're griping about. That's called an investment... Janet invests in a movie, movie is released to tv, movie makes money, Janet gets a cut.. But there are other roles an executive producer takes on than just financing the movieIt's business... That's what she is.. If you're griping about a music video or promo tour then you don't understand the basic concept of marketing & accounting Edited April 21, 2016 by Game
Utopia
Wasn't Being T scrapped because someone came forward claiming that the project was stolen from under them? That person threatened to sue Janet and whoever else involved.I read about a Trans person coming for it but that was really after the project died. The trailer looked AMAZING Really wanted to see that one.
DasSad
I don't see it lol me neither. It says 2017 so she's going to be a new mom, prep for her tour and produce this film while married to a demanding husband. Not plus this woman's story is not lifetime material

JoeJoe
.....you're being sarcastic right? Cause if not that really doesn't hurt the argument about what she's willing to pay for. Executive Producers finance specific things they want seen... the networknetwork handles the rest all those details listed yesterday, thats not the executive producers concern most of the time, ESPECIALLY in cases like this with a network backing vs singularly financing EVERYTHING.... thats a tremendously big difference.don't switch up now. Y'all were saying video cost would come out of Janet's pockets solely if she were to keep releasing videos. She's an Indie artist but she still works for Kathy Ireland. Y'all really that naive to think they wouldn't help out Janet with financing of a video and still even if she didn't y'all still ignore the fact that VIDEOS ARE CHEAP TO MAKE. How do y'all know Janet wouldn't have any help financing. Hell who said she'd even need help financing or want help? Either way she's still producing a movie instead of a video and it has nothing to do with what she's willing to pay for although executive producers ARE involved in the finances. . Looks like she'd rather work on a movie than her album and tour point, blank, period. Edited April 21, 2016 by JoeJoe 1

It sold what it sold and it's not going to sell much more with a music videoAs far as the tour.. It's been placed on hold until she starts a family

Looks like she'd rather work on a movie than her album and tour point, blank, period. You're confusing "switching up" for expanding, there's no switching up, it's pretty consistent. Ofcourse she'd have some help with her album finances, but still all the responsibility falls on her and still we're talking independent investors vs. a company, you really can't compare, hell you REALLY can't compare a music video to a TV movie in 2016, because you can take a guess at which 1 makes more money in return.....it's not the video. And really yall still ignoring that 1 videos aren't as cheap when it's out of pocket and 2 the entire discussion was about funding the entire era out of pocket, NOT JUST VIDEOS, why this turned into JUST videos was a deflection from the topic at hand that's 1 part of out of pocket, that's not accounting the tour at all. And it REALLY does show what she's willing to put her money to, and again we don't even know for sure that the video's been scrapped, I mean how long did the Pour It Up & Bitch Better Have My Money videos come out after they were not only singles and put on radio but shot period?
