Janet Jackson will executive produce the story of 1920’s New York City mobster, Queenie - the first and only woman gangster during the prohibition, set against the backdrop of The Cotton Club. Born Stephanie St. Clair (1886–1969), Queenie (photo above) was a mob boss who ran numerous criminal enterprises in Harlem, NYC in the early part of the 20th century. She even bumped heads with the then Italian mafia, and managed to stay entirely independent. In Bill Duke's  gangland crime drama "Hoodlum" (1997) she was played by Cicely Tyson, as some of you might recall. Kenny Leon is attached to direct the film.

It would be dope if she did it through Lionsgate and got HBO involved.

yeah this women was a straight up gangster. Not sure how lifetime will do her story justice. If people don't know who she is check out the movie hoodlum or American gangstas on A&E  she was not just some gangsta. She had the 5 families shook in NY and gave the mob a run for their money. Murdered the hell out of her boyfriend for cheating too. They never even caught her. She just vanished.  You can't even curse on lifetime

She's set to produce a movie but couldn't produce another video? Now where's the excuses for how expensive it is to shoot a music video but yet she's about to produce a film? :lmao:

.....you're being sarcastic right? Cause if not that really doesn't hurt the argument about what she's willing to pay for. Executive Producers finance specific things they want seen... the networknetwork handles the rest all those details listed yesterday, thats not the executive producers concern most of the time, ESPECIALLY in cases like this with a network backing vs singularly financing EVERYTHING.... thats a tremendously big difference.:lmao::lmao:

Don't executive producers help finance the project? Tears

Not really. Production companies finance the project. Executive producers oversee the project or just add their name to it to help promote like Tyler Perry/Oprah did with Precious despite the fact that they didn't have any input. How To Get Away With Murder is seen as Shonda's baby because she's the executive producer but Peter Nowalk does all the work. TLC produced their VH1 documentary but we know they didn't give no money - VH1/POP Films aka the production company did. It really depends on the individual.
