LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- Janet Jackson is opening up about her battle with the bulge, telling Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson how she’s finally getting control of her weight.

“Your scale can be your worst enemy, so it’s really not about a number — it’s about looking in the mirror and feeling good about you and feeling healthy and loving who you are when you see that person in the mirror,” new NutriSystem spokesperson Janet told Shaun in an interview set to air tonight on Access Hollywood.

Janet is the latest celebrity to front a weight loss program, and she opened up to Shaun about her struggles, admitting her weight battle has been an emotional one.

“I am an emotional eater… There are people that don’t eat when they’re stressed. I eat when I stress, when I’m down, when I’m in that state of not being in the greatest space,” the superstar said. “And that’s my place of comfort that I go to for that moment. Then I kick myself after doing it.”

Beyond opening up about her weight, Janet revealed she’s nervous for her niece, Paris Jackson, who has lined up her first feature film role – in “Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys” — a live action feature alongside Larry King, who will provide voiceover work.

“I’m excited for her, but it worries me a little bit,” Janet told Shaun. “Yeah, I wish that she would maybe wait.

“I got into the business at a young age,” Janet, who hit the stage at an early age, and the television screen on the 1970s sitcom “Good Times,” told Shaun. “It’s not an easy thing. Your childhood…you completely lose and I didn’t get to experience that, so she has the rest of her adult life to be that actress that she wants to be and I told her that. Yeah, I told her I would take this time to just study… really, really study the craft.”

To see the complete interview with Janet Jackson tune in to Access Hollywood on Thursday, December 15.
