AFFORDABLE CARE ACT RULING

Wow that's expensive. I think we pay higher taxes over here but everyone gets completely free healthcare (and a legal requirement of a minimum of four weeks paid annual leave plus the 7 public holidays). In fact the specialist intensive care units etc are only available under free care. You can get private healthcare but it just means you get a pretty room but if anything serious goes wrong you will get sent to a public hospital anyway.

I love how you guys over there call it "holiday" "I'M ON HOLIDAY BLOKE"......bitch you mean you taking a vacation day...[Hotboy] Oh Okay {/Hotboy] :filenails:

So what happens in the USA if you are poor and own nothing and you get really really sick, do you get turned away from the hospital?

depends on the hospital policy, in the new law from Obama, you don't get turned away if you are seriously ill and critical, which most hospitals will not turn you away, they will cut you lose as soon as you are stable though and come collecting after your ass on credit reports and shit. The real big thing here is people who have pre existing conditions cannot be turned away from health insurance, the folks that need it the most. So if I have fucking cancer and I need chemotherapy for however long my insurance pays. You realize how many people die because insurance companies deny claims to those that are basically a guaranteed pay out? Insurance works basically by how many people pay in but DON'T RECEIVE SHIT IN RETURN. If someone comes along with an issue, that means insurance has to pay, they don't like that so much :filenails:

:umm:

So do you have to pay before you get the stitches, or after?

it's always after, they treat you sure, BUT after the bill comes, and that's when the fun starts, they can send it to collection agencies, or you can workout a payment plan, BUT BITCH WE WANT OUR MONEY AND YOU GONE PAY IT. :filenails:

But what if you are broke and homeless or something, would they ever turn anyone away even if they knew they weren't getting their money back?

no they would treat you and in cases of poor we have Medicaid, which is government sponsored insurance for the poor, even under the new law if you don't have the insurance and you don't bring in a decent income you will be exempt from the penalty. This makes people who can afford to pay into the system pay into it. Hospitals can write off a lot of things, I had a case where I was on government insurance and 80% of the bill was dismissed.
