What a fascinating read; one which underscores many an important point. The most potent of which is that, while the US is the largest music market it in the world, it doesn’t mean acts outside that arena can’t make it rain elsewhere. Case, point, example Take That and Kylie Minogue - two acts whose main success is vested everywhere but the US and yet still made the list.

Also beyond the expected suspects, such as GaGa, Britney, and Sade, it was surprising to see Usher‘s latest trek place so high. For, despite his chart success, the tour seemed to go on in the background amidst minimal fanfare. Perhaps, it was just us who weren’t that interested?

In any case, love her or loathe her, Rihanna‘s omission is alo big news. For, the actress embarked on two heavily-backed tours within the catchment period (November 1st 2010 – November 8th 2011); treks which cast her as a “legit performer” and ones fans hoped would finally see her shed her “studio artist tag. And yet, just like the Forbes list, her nasal neigh is M.I.A. Clearly more proof that her “megastar” status is, at best, premature, and more realistically, non-existant. There’s always next year, ay?

Your thoughts?

I got this from TGJ. I'm kinda pissed Janet isn't on there but whatever.

Does U2 ever stop touring? The are #1 one EVERY damn year. Give somebody else a chance, geez.

and that gross for Katy is terrible for 98 shows. She only grossed a lil over 2 mill more than Lil Wayne while he did 30 LESS shows than her. On top of that she had 40 MORe sell-outs than him to make matters worse.

Veteran acts will always rule the top spots most of the time.

And BEFORE THEY COME FOR RIHANNA, they need to get their facts together.

Number of concerts, attendance, and ticket prices have to be factored in. Rihanna only did Australia, North America, and some of Europe within the Billboard year. They need quit trying to discredit her, she IS a superstar.

They do factor in number of concerts and attendance thus the little numbers after the gross. Pink practically lives in Australia when she tours and she has made the list.

It isnt like they are hiding numbers to shade her they are just pointing out facts.

Britney, Lil Wayne, and Kate Perry did fuckin' horrible. Looks like Usher still doin' his thing haters :filenails:

Grossing 37 million from 39 reported dates is NOT bad. Can you do math?

The reason Katy's gross is so low is b/c her ticket prices were all under 50 dollars.

Katy perry tickets were VERY cheap......i think they didn't want to take the risk of making them expensive and having nobody buy them ..so its impressive

Janet would probably be some where in the top 10 if all her box score's from venues were reported ...Sofar only 10million has been reported

Some people on this board talk so much shit. Look at Ushers stats and try and tell me he isn't relevent anymore. How Dayz and other people can say he isn't shit anymore is beyond me. Usher had the majority of his tour outside the US but he's still going strong. The US is the primary market, but some people are so phased that it's the only market that makes anyone successful which is absolute bollocks.

rihanna made 10million from 18 reported dates of her new tour...she is not grossing that much from her tour that why she didn't make it
