Selz
http://www.mirror.co...-jay-zs-2939249 Sickening and also kinda unsurprising - Jay is a creepy guy IMO. *edit* apologies if this is discussed in the Bey thread, I didn't look. janetDAYZ
It's not that serious. That definitely didn't cause an uproar here in America.
Aquaria
I didn't catch this... I heard him call himself Ike turner which was enough. Why even go there? his whole verse annoys me tbh though

Reyna ♔
Wow. Not surprised. I didn't even listen to the song in full because I didn't care to hear his verse and I was losing interest in the song anyway. I guess I made a good call. Bailey
I thought cake meant cocaine . Didn't he sample Gucci Mane for that line? It's from the movie "What's Love Got to do With It" starring Angela Bassett as Tina Turner and Lawrence Fishbourne as Ike Turner. Often in Black culture we quote our movies and "eat the cake Anna Mae" is a direct quote from the movie, which you apparently haven't seen or neither recall. In any case it is worth watching. As for the lyric, it was kinda disrespectful of the negative place the quote came from an abusive relationship

Link: http://www.nydailyne...ticle-1.1561645 Why would you use that audio in a song? Who told her that would be a good idea. I heard about the whole "Anna Mae" reference too. I thought it wasn't in poor taste, but it's Jay-Z's rap....I have a feeling she would never ask him change it. lol

I highly doubt that that's what was on her mind when she selected that. I don't care how people spin it. That was disrespectful. Good point at the end lol. She still should have said something to him about it, though. I mean, doesn't she consider Tina a mentor? Wouldn't a reference like that honestly be in poor taste? Or is she just on a "IDGAF" kick, now? I don't know, but I don't like the way it looks.

From what I remember of XO (I only listened once) I don't see how it could possibly be tribute or anything of the sort. Terrible spin by her team. lol Exactly, with Tina supposedly being her mentor, you'd think she'd think twice before allowing something like that to be said in one of her songs. I just don't think she would stand up to Jay-Z. I think she needs to spin it the other way Are you kidding? She can't stand up to Jay-Z... Let's not forget who really runs this world CLOCKED!! Nothing she writes should be taken seriously... or as there was some thought behind it No I didn't Her TEAM decided to spin it into a tribute with what they had her announce today in response to the backlash. I said that I don't know how they figured that would work with that song. There is nothing about it that sounds like a tribute to the victims and I agree with TOF that it was a dumb idea to spin it that way.
