Hill is aware of her reputation for lateness, and at Tuesday night’s show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, she finally addressed her critics — after taking the stage around midnight (her concert tickets reportedly declared an 8 p.m. showtime). Watch below to see Hill tell the crowd why she’s entitled to show up when she likes. According to the Times, fans in the front row hand-wrote signs telling Lauryn “You Just Lost One” and “This Is Insulting”, while even one of Hill’s keyboard players taped a reply to his instrument: “I Was On Time”. “Don’t do that, that’s disrespectful,” Hill reportedly told the fans with the signs. In this video, first shown on The New York Times‘ website, Hill apologizes for showing up late, but says that “there’s a lot that goes on, into getting this out to you. It’s not easy.” But she goes on to say, “I spent my entire 20s sacrificing my life to give you love.
